A little too young but well balanced, completely uncomplicated beginner dram, whose price is probably a bit too high. Very interchangeable, you would not think blindly at Glendronach. Shoemaker stick to your last? Rather not, he will surely find his lover, who will probably not come from the majority of the camp of the Distillery fans, and thus he would have fulfilled his task for the marketers already. For my part: Nice to have tried him, he does not come to my shelf.
    • Nose
Fresh fruity, pears and limes, little smoke, slightly phenolic, grain and malt, vanilla. After a little longer caramel and less fruit notes. The phenolic in the smoke has disappeared, actually all the smoke is almost completely suppressed. When heated, a few sherry tunes actually come in, but only very discreetly. Overall, he looks very sweet now. A distinct marshmallow note with delicate acidity now dominates. The alcohol tickles clearly in the nose.
    • Taste
Not as sweet as the nose can expect, light honey, a slight harshness and grassy notes dominate, overall very tasty. Towards the rear, a not unpleasant bitterness develops, which however is slightly metallic.
    • Finish
The finish is more on the short side, only a touch of ash remains a little longer on the tongue.

Nose: A very singular, typical Highland smoke. Vanilla sweetness, sharp bourbon notes, almost zero sherry influence.

Palate: Sweet arrival, with a smoke blanket, sweet candy, liquorice. Quite spirity. Become even sweeter after a few sips. Vanilla and creamy.

Finish: Medium to long, spirity finish, with some nuttiness.

Balance: There is not much up and down, which is a good thing. However, nothing stands out as well.

    First of all:
My own grading system goes from 1 to 10 and after a long deliberation, it breaks into WB points:
    48 - 57 - 65 - 72 - 78 - 83 - 87 - 90 - 93 - 95

I give 4 out of 10 points to Glendronach Peated.
    • Nose
The first nose immediately produces an incredibly sweet but light pear. The sweetness in the nose quickly reduces and it smells noticeably like the brown back of a plaster.
The longer I smell, the more comes the memory of a slightly smoky "Jura", as if the whisky was slightly cheesy due to long fermentation.
I hope not, because "Jura" I do not like ... The cheese mixes with a mineral note, which suggests to me that the Glendronach Peated should be quite young.
    • Taste
Dry - very dry, lots of citrus, metallic youth, low smoke, a certain, alcoholic sharpness with 46%.
A slight bitterness is there. I'm typing on 3rd-fill barrels.
    • Finish
There is the cheese, a clear dryness shows on the palate. Clearly the metallic youth shows up again.
... and he is gone, very short departure.

A lot of bourbon cask, little to no sherry. Vanilla, some green fruits, a lot of spices, oak. Peat is clearly visible and well integrated. Does make a young impression, finish rahter short. A nice slightly peated dram, easy to drink

    • Nose
apart, show some fruit with peat. Little simple set up, well balanced. Apart is the right word. Zilt.
    • Taste
apart, nice though. Very strong though
    • Finish
nice, simple. There is no development. Do not find the peat and sherry content high, it is tasty but lacks development.
