    • Taste
      soft, gentle, easy onset, fruity, ripe grapes, sherry note, old oak, whole milk chocolate;
    • Finish
      medium and fruity; in the end dark chocolate;

    bääääääääääääh, he does not work
    a bitter disappointment
the worst of all Cardhus I have ever had in the glass
    • Nose
hmmmm, herb, nutty gets more, dark caramel, slightly cheese with banana (iiiiiih)
      later a funny hairy touch
    • Taste
      soft on the palate
      dark chocolate, spicy, bright fruit
      later: slightly oak
    • Finish
      medium long
      slightly oak, old cardboard, spicy

Super whisky, the game between nut and sweetness I think is absolutely great. Makes him totally tasty.
    • Nose
In the first impression he immediately smells of fruit. After ripe pear (sweet fruit). It has some of raw dough (cookie dough), spices, or moment, are these nuts?
    • Taste
Sweet. Yes, they are nuts. The nut is very clear here. Vanilla, malt, all in all very round and balanced. I also like a slight touch of oak
    • Finish
Long, dry, oak is getting stronger. Tart chocolate and spices

Thin and watery at 40%, in cask strength this wanna be punchy highlight the wide range of flavors!
    • Nose
Floral. Pear, pineapple, kiwi and citruses. Malt, black tea, grape seed, hay and nut.
    • Taste
Caramelized pear, unripe banana, grape, apple compote, honey, white pepper and bergamot oil.
    • Finish
      Medium elngth, dry, spicy.

I like it very much. Goes again and again. At first he really got me excited, meanwhile he slipped a bit. But still: 83 are neat for such a standard!
    • Nose
Fruity, distinct pear, plums, some pineapple. Chocolate sweetness, herbal seasoning.
    • Taste
Pear, sweetness and tobacco, which becomes dominant. Oak, herbs.
    • Finish
Pretty long for the 40%. Pleasant oak.

Now this is quite underwhelming. Everything is so subtle and watery. There is not much depth of flavour and also not much development in the glass. The nose is the best part of the whisky. The palate is plain, weak and very watery. This conforms for me why I shouldn’t get a bottle for my collection. The chilfiltration and the 40% abv. doesn’t do this whisky any good. Maybe if it was presented in a more natural way it would be better (e.g. unchillfiltered and with at least 46%)
All in all an uninteresting and weak whisky.
    • Nose
A subtle, sweet and fruity whisky with aromas of berries, red fruits, apple, pear, vanilla, honey, coumarin, white chocolate, malt (Ovaltine), grains, toffee, strong tea with milk, floral tones, hay, grape seeds, white wine, a perfume tone (like 4711 Eau de Cologne), hint of orange, subtle spices and oak.
    • Taste
A subtle, fresh and sweet whisky with aromas of white pepper, honey, vanilla, hint of coffee, tea, apple, pear, berries, hint of banana, floral tones, hint of toffee, cinnamon, subtle clove, dry tannins, grape seeds, subtle caramel and a hint of oak.
    • Finish
A short, spicy and drying finish with aromas of white pepper, honey, fresh fruit, toffee, malt, tannins, subtle hazelnut and a hint of oak.

I find myself at the Cardhu distillery having only had one Cardhu before WB. Let’s make up for that and try six [starting with the NAS WB]
N: Moving on from the 15yo WB, this is a thicker nose, rich too with loads more wood and some varnish. Minimal sherry.
T: Dry-ish as a bone sour wood - too much for some, maybe me also.
    F: Woody and really sour
C: The sherry is understated as it seems to be in the entire Cardhu range. Surprisingly I found the NAS trio slightly more agreeable but its the 12yo WB that fairs best - although frankly theres little between all of them. All are ‘on par’.

    Scores a C
