    SMWS Tasting Notes
    Colour: Ginger gold
Flavour: Oily & Coastal A curious dram – the unreduced nose had sanded wood and
light, clean smoke suggesting first aid boxes and apothecaries,
menthol-suffused saunas, liquorice, porridge and smokehouse timber – even some
ocean spray and light engine oil. With water we got beach barbeques and cooked
fish, pineapple on gammon, pan-drops, hospital laundries and motorcycle
workshops. The initial taste found travel sweets, menthol cigarettes, burnt
sticks, spicy fennel seed sausages and smoked mussels – served by a swimming
pool or in a hospital emergency room. Adding water brought about a satisfying
mix of sweetness and light smoke, with hints of salt, embers and bicycle repair
    kits.

Drinking Tip: In a tasting, this would ease the transition
from non-smoky to smoky drams – or whenever a lightly peated whisky is desired.
