    • Nose
The golden golden shade lies calmly in the glass.

Nose: petroleum, slightly fermented pear, old bottle flavor! to 100% ! Library, wax, lubricating oil, a bit musty and fruity, ripe banana, a little mango ... grapefruit or limes

to kneel down, what a great old stuff, nasal top whisky
    • Taste
oily soft, yet slightly spicy start and then this fruit basket that explodes oily in my mouth ... what a hammer, what I breathe out ...
old workshop with fruits and marijuana. Later a bite in the oak board.
    • Finish
The finish is also sweet AND dry ..... AND spicy on the tongue

  2. Drk Neknul scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Tasted on 27/12/2020. An amazingly present malt. Lots of old bottle flavor. Slight off-notes in the finish prevent an even higher rating, although the low level may have damaged the malt.

    • Nose
      88 88
fine, delicate sherry aromas, dry oak, harmonious, pleasant, inviting.
A little shy despite the 30 years. Doesn't look old or tired.
After a while in the glass, the previously sniffed impressions appear more aromatic, a touch of orange is added.
    • Taste
      88 88
A hint of acceleration, a trace of spicy, slightly tingling and somewhat spicy, fine wood notes (different woods) complemented by fine coffee aromas. Light and somewhat fruity, sweetish-tart. Hints of yellow fruit and orange.
    • Finish
      87 87
at the beginning delicately tart with fine oak notes, becoming slightly dry, slightly sweet.
Reflects the impressions gained in the smell and taste. Subtle.

The slight sharpness bothers me a little, nothing else to complain about. Tastes hand-warm and best in small sips!

Overlaid by the barrel. Bitter notes in the finish. Was in the glass for 30 minutes

Unbelievable how undervalued this malt is. The Speyburn embodies the best balance of smoke and old school flavors! Grandiose whisky (at least if it was open for a while and breathed).

  7. Allandale scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

    Body: Medium, supple.
    • Nose
      Heathery,slightly  earthy. Wet leaves.
    • Taste
Smooth. Malty, opening on spices and heathery notes,( root rather than flowers)
    • Finish
Sweet and gentle, drying on soft spices.
