For me it is in no way too bitter, on the contrary I find it so fruity-sweet that the smell reminds me more of an old rum. Wonderfully versatile in the taste and the finish really tops it off.
Despite the journey through the senses, it is extremely harmonious and the alcohol content is also very well balanced. Almost too easy to sip and yet too porny for such a poppy Saturday afternoon.
    • Nose
Right away, a super fruity nose. No real smell of sherry, but more of cooked red fruits, such as cherries, currants, cranberries and blackberries. This is followed by rum raisins, clearly glue, vanilla and molasses. Yes, it actually smells more like a well-aged rum to me. The wood is still discreetly in the background and is reminiscent of spruce wood and high-quality sauna infusions
    • Taste
The taste is definitely recognizable as a malt. It starts off incredibly oily and fruity-sweet. A malty sweetness and some heavy toasted American oak cask. It's actually something like a very good bourbon. Fruity with cherry candy, which tastes a bit new school at the same time, but then develops a depth that is really unbelievable. You can and must keep the malt in your mouth longer, because there is still so much to come. The oak flashes and just before it becomes too uncomfortably bitter, it dissolves into a herbal candy that makes Ricola look old. Just before swallowing, there is a note of camphor.
    • Finish
The finish is incredibly long and develops those fruity-sweet aromas into liquid liquorice, liqueur and dark cane syrup.
Significantly more oak after the second sip.
