    Old Ballantruan The Peated Malt NAS | 50% | 23 + 21 + 20 + 22 = 85pts
N: Spicy smoke from chips, a fire filled with water, a little ginger and dried prunes, port wine.
T: Not biting, soft and sweet, pears and lemons, smoked bacon, a little vanilla.
F: Long, energetic, bites pepper, smoked meats, smoky, bitterness of the barrel and vanilla.
B: Normal, dense whisky, with a sensible degree and a pleasant profile. Deserves a normal evaluation.

    Color: Saturated-golden.
    ABV: 50%.

Nose: Burned wood sticks and needles, malt, notes of creamy cream. [n23]

Taste: The body is dense, oily. Peat, dried fruits, a little salt. [t21]

Finish: long and rich. Smoke, wood, peat, a little wine notes. [T20]

Balance: Fine peaty whisky with a rich aroma and taste. When the drink is poured into the glass, the air is saturated with the aroma from childhood, when children near the camp fire burned sticks from bushes and trees, and chased each other with coals at the ends. In taste, rich smokiness neatly envelops a light taste of dried fruits with a small slice of salt. Despite the relatively high degree (50%), spirituousness is not felt at all, letting you enjoy a truly spicy dance of haze and dried fruit. [b21]

Smoke; Ham, but also a clear fruitiness and a nice, malty sweetness and moist tobacco

Smoke, ham; some earth; now comes the oak, nice and spicy but not bitter. Nice wood, behind a trace of tobacco and somehow roasted almonds at the same time

Fruity, then smoke, citrus, a slight sweetness with peaty flair. Interesting

I tried at the tasting in Yalta - a very smoked aroma, very much resembles the Ail profile, the taste is interesting salty, reminded the bunohaven. Whisky is very complex and powerful, the aroma is quite complex and interesting, it will be possible to take the Central Bank.

a nice fruity, strong peat malt with a nice peppery touch. Not very complex, but delicious and by no means "young" tasting.

Due to the ham note he has something of Caol Ila, although he lacks the mineral and the juniper. I found him delicious; I did not have that in my glass for the last time.
    • Nose
Smoky. If you wait a few seconds and give the senses time to adjust to the smoke, a smoked ham waving over an idea of fruity and grassiness. From afar, barely visible a strip of bacon, which accidentally fell into a sherry glass. Water leaves the smoked ham where it is & adds to the whole a round sweetness of red berries, a few scattered grains of green & smoked malt as well as a hint of meat broth.
    • Taste
Soft but firm in the mouth. Again, smoked bacon, tiny undefined meaty notes & a playful berry sweetness. By adding water, light smoke billows over pepper, sherry, pieces of ham and a small fruit decoration. Added to this are a few drops of lemon juice.
    • Finish
A nice, pleasant sharpness; we have at least 50% vol. To do alcohol. Light fruit notes win just above the smoke. Added a little water, this whisky lids the mouth area for a long time. Red fruits dipped in lemon juice. Pepper mixes with smoke.
