    That must have been a great cask indeed - one of the best Bourbon barrels - reminds me on some very old Bowmores and most recently it compares well with the great Speysiders from 1973. For me also just one point below the famous cask MoS 12044 even so it is hard to compare. Great stuff!
    • Nose
      Fresh, truck loads of tropical fruits, honey comb, sweet acidity galore, whiffs of oak wood, spices, pepper, cloves, nutmeg, more on apples etc. - fantastic!
    • Taste
      Oily, fruity cake, lots of spices, pepper, cinnamon, apple juice, good sweetness, oak wood and just a wee hint of vanilla in the background - excellent!
    • Finish
      Medium long and warm, more fruity, not drying at all, more fine spices in the background

    a flatterer with subtle perfectly proportioned wood content with incredibly delicious intense exotic fruit notes - very lively, exciting, ingenious

      very noble sweet very exotic nose, citrus, melon, roasted pineapple, mandarin, peach, bitter almond, light notes of green wood, jasmine flowers, bergamot, very creamy, everything is perfectly connected, intense and without flaws - divine fabric

      creamy, waxy herbaceous notes of fresh green wood, very juicy without dryness, balsam-like on the palate, baked pineapple, apricot jam, crystalline citrus notes, also very good on the palate, flawless

      waxy, with mild mountain herbal tea, banana, sweet lemon, melon, warm and spicy - very long

    Amazing! Extremely fruity and vibrant for its age. Apple sauce, peach, banana puree, grape juice, coconut, dusty cigarbox and a touch of beer/yeast. I have been smelling and tasting this whisky for more than an hour now and it keeps changing on me. Many layers of goodness.

    Absolutely top-of-the-line whisky, after tasting about 1700, I would rank among the top 10, if not the top 5, and that, although or not because he was not kissed and smacked by the superduper sherry or port barrel, the bourbon barrel has it easy in the 30+ years something completely unique, made special of it.
    • Nose
      Wow, what a fruit salad, even while pouring, licked drops from the sample bottle, sniffed 30cm away from the glass ... a dream! (Apple and pear compote, melon, pineapple, gooseberry, kiwi, unripe banana ... you do not want to stop) In addition, as a contrast in the background a waxy note, floor wax, leather polish, slightly dry woody - great.
    • Taste
      here again all the fruit salad (see above), followed by lime, grapefruit and passion fruit, then sweet and dry, cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg, leather, some pepper, tastes almost too good to swallow
    • Finish
      long, elegant, non-penetrating, lime, drinking cocoa powder, leather, herb sweet

    What's not to like here? This has matured for such a long time, and it really does show its age, but it also very vibrant and there's not too much oak. A high point for sure.
    • Nose
      A warm fruit basket with apricot, peach and mango, but also lots of citrus (mandarin). Some wax and furnitire polish as well, with some oakiness (saw dust). This one really shows its age. In a good way :)
    • Taste
      Really fruity again, with pink grapefruit taking center stage, but also lychees, oranges, apricots and lemon peel. The palate is pretty oily and creamy. It shows some aniseed, as well as freshly polished leather. Lovely, lovely stuff.
    • Finish
      Warming. Slightly dry and medium in length. Fruity still, but softer now.

    Blind tasting of a sample. 90/91 points. Thanks for the sample Erik!
    • Nose
      Apricot, fermenting cantaloupe melon, honey, limestone, apple, yellow raisin, banana, malt and chili pepper. Turns more creamy after a few minutes.
    • Taste
      Kaki, apricot, galia melon, malt, orange, banana, leather and pepper.
    • Finish
      Gooseberry, kaki, leather, litchi and smoke.

    Good but not very good which is a bit disappointing looking at the price of the bottle. Maybe it is due to the fact that I had the excellent Laphroaig 21 yesterday in my glas :)

      Very fruity start: peaches, raisins, apple
    • Taste
      Sour but sweet sour first like these sour apple shots but very positive then sweet brown sugar and caramel
    • Finish
      a lot herbs a bit like Muscatel, very special and excellent long!

    For me as a Sherry matured Whisky lover this dram earns my great respect! Very well done. Especially the nose has much to offer: very interwoven complexity, deep space and roundness …

    A pity that the taste becomes from the second sip on a bit 'boring' (if you understand what I mean …) - but I think that could be MY problem … :-)

    • Nose
      Fresh apricots, fresh slight sour apples, caramel, bright milk chocolate, 'Joghurette' (very prominent!), ripe vanilla (thick feeling), spiciness from the barrel, some smoked ham,very nice wood, thick sweet-sour vegetable broth, leather, some mocha, apple biscuits (out of the pan), caramel biscuits, extinguished wood fire, melted butter, 'Himmel und Hölle', banana.
    • Taste
      Lemon, tingly (very tingly all the time!), bright fruits, leather, radicchio, apple jam, citrus peal, apples, pears, coffee, old books, raw bacon, some grilled, wood, spiciness, quince jelly bread, charred wood, cocoa powder, grapes.
    • Finish
      Fruit brandies, wood (also charred), oily-dusty, herbs, leather, cocoa powder, citrus, dry, aftertaste of bright jams (also sweet).
