[July, 2020] A good friend recommended this bottle so I have to try it, for sure...

...and it is worth a try. The sherry is not too present so the trademark Glenallachie profile with its dark home-grown fruit (morello cherries, mirabelles) shines through nicely. Easy quaffable stuff, the bottle was gone during one evening (with friends, of course).
    • Nose
      89 89
The colour is chestnutoloroso sherry and the nose offers an interesting fruity sherry profile which combines both the fruits of the wine (small yellow plums, oranges, raisins) and the malt (dark cherries, cranberries and more). Pretty balanced and without any off-note, the wood is just about perfect in its structure. I really enjoy to sniff this dram.
    • Taste
      90 90
The taste is drivenby the sour-sweet winey flavours first before the malty and wooden notes join in and create an enjoyable harmonic setting. Again no flaws that I can find. It is greatly chewable and I strongly advise to do so because all lot more flavours are released this way. Actually, this is a very fine taste for a ten years old dram.
    • Finish
      89 89
The dram arrives a little hot but nicely coating on the palate without distracting moments. The finish is long and adds more spices (peppers, ginger) and chocolatey impressions. Again no bitter or drying moments, this is a fine modern sherry maturation. Water is not needed as it flattens both nose and taste, this dram should be enjoyed neat (at 55.4% abv).
