Tasted this blind. I don’t know how but I got a lot of Virgin oak despite of it being oloroso sherry casks..
    • Nose
Rich, sugary, barley, oaky. Quite some Virgin oak influence. Corny and also buttery. Even waxy maybe. Maybe it has got something to do with the time of the day or the food or something but I couldn’t get any oloroso influence somehow.
    • Taste
Candle wax, honey, caramel fudge, Virgin oak all over the place. Sweet and a tad bitterness. A little bitey, giving away some youthfulness.
    • Finish
Long finish. Spiced and herbed at first, after that it gets more tot the oaky side. Wood shavings and toasted oak. After that more of the sweetness comes back like in caramel liquor and quite some honey again. A tad tartness in the very end, that’s a pitty.

Tested with a bottle from 2019/12/10.
    • Nose
This one is less sweet in the scent. A little more salt and nuttiness. It is said to contain older whisky than "the revived revival". Maybe it has a little more ectons and spiciness, feels no huge difference.
    • Taste
2019 is sweeter and "healthier" in taste, newer wood. 2015 is a little slower to show. Feels further back on the tongue. Nuts, almonds, dried fruit, black tea with a little cane sugar.
    • Finish
Medium aftertaste, nonetheless longer than 2019 as I had expected given the popularity and the older whisky. A little on the cheeks. Both are good and good sherry-matured whisky. For my part, I do not think that you need to catch up with the older releases at expensive prices, the current releases are good enough.

Cubey666's summery is pretty much on point.
Starts very good in nose and taste, but cannot hold it in the finish

tastes older than the 15 years on the label, and probably is.
lovely thick with dark roasted coffee and chocolate. Bit dry bitterish finish (in special when compared with the GD12)

The GlenDronach 15 is hailed by many is one of the best malts this Speyside distillery has brought to the market. The fact that some releases contain much older whisky – because of depleted stocks of 15 year old malt, imagine that! – it is also very coveted. I tried it before, but gladly try it again, this time a Revival from 2015.

Yes, the nose is sherried wonderfully on balsamico, raisins, walnuts, but also sports some sulphur. I am reminded of new sneakers and even some washing powder. And while this could have easily gone towards an off-note, it does not. It works hand-in-glove with the sweetness that appears immediately after: dades, maple syrup and caramel. After breathing for a while, some chocolate with praline filling arrives, as does some Arabica coffee and mokantine. I’m sold.

It is quite oily and fills the mouth with loads of sherry notes: raisins, figs, dades, but also nutmeg and cloves. Lots of cloves! The sweetness from the nose returns in full force on the palate, upholstered with a touch of rubber that luckily does not go over the top. It flirts with that border though, which makes it intriguing.

The finish is medium long and shows some green herbs at the death.

The Revival – launched way back when Billy Walker gave the distillery a second lease on life – is a top notch whisky. Thanks for the sample, Jeroen!

Too bad that it only exists at such high prices. At his starting price, I would praise him as the PLV winner of all the whiskys I've tasted up to 40 € in the sky. For the current prices, he is still not bad, but in my opinion he can not keep up with other whiskys in the 90 € + frame. Nevertheless, the whisky itself remains to say that he is extremely successful and completely satisfied. 87 points!
    • Nose
Nut and sherry! It is hazelnuts and quite dry, spicy sherry. Raisins, oh what - the entire trail mix! Some orange peel and oak influences are also added. Tobacco forms. At the same time, more fruits can be perceived. Plums, berries and a little sour cherry!
    • Taste
Dry and spicy-dry. Only with a few seconds the trail food is included, but then it is intense. Some leather and cider are added and makes the palate interesting. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. With the second sip, toasted aromas are added! After the first sip, the nose becomes fruity and softer, almost sweet!
    • Finish
The taste in the mouth remains long. A very slight bitterness (milk coffee?) Remains. After the second sip it is espresso!
