  1. mds51 scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Significantly more complex than the standard 12y. Here you can see what the alcohol level can be.
    • Nose
First comes only a barrage of alcohol. Then, when the nose gets used to it, vanilla, sweetness and oak notes. In the background some marzipan, some orange and nougat. The whole thing is accompanied by some menthol.
    • Taste
The alcohol is clearly noticeable. Light sweetness and orange first, followed by a pleasant spice. Very oily, coffee notes, maple sirp (but not so sweet), white pepper. A hint of dark currants.
    • Finish
The spice stays for a long time and forms bitter chocolate notes.

Great complex bourbon, maybe overly oaky
    • Nose

Big flavors - brown sugar, vanilla, orange zest, milk chocolate paste or nougat, roasted hazelnuts, wood varnish, some mint on the back.
Recommend to add few teaspoons of water
    • Taste
      88 88
Very hot. First - a lot of wood, slight brown sugar and varnish, second - dark bitter chocolate, not sweet.
With some water - orange zest
    • Finish
      87 87
Long, dry, bitter chocolate. With water - a lot of sweet dark oak

  5. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    Great for 57 €. Although I would like the 18er for ~ 60 € again, but this compensated almost ... ;-)
    • Nose
Wow, he jumps in the nose - strong, dry, dusty oak notes, mint fresh!
Then (drops of water) black berries, cocoa, spicy sharpness, Brazil nut.
    • Taste
      (more water, because pretty heavy)
Cocoa, intense, fat, oily! Dark bittersweet (molasses, maple syrup, sugar beet syrup), neat pepper, tobacco, old leather
    • Finish
      Laaang ... cocoa and pepper
