    The magnificent silence, all the good things that were in the 16-year-old here are squared, complex, deep, very concentrated, densely - the highest league, I especially want to note the amazing softness at almost 60% of the fortress, of relative disadvantages - some narrowness of the range of components; The price tag, of course, does not please, but you have to pay for such pleasure.
    • Nose
      Open, dry, velvety, smoke of a fire, lemon peel, cedar board, light hints of smoked meat, peat, sweet cotton wool, light notes of carpentry workshop, resin.
    • Taste
      Thick, smoke-sweet, wood-resin, lemon candied fruit, lemon pepper, caramel, butter and cream notes, berry jam, dried apricots, sweet prunes, all this is wrapped in a smoky-smoked cloud.
    • Finish
      Spicy, warming, caramel, smoke-earth notes, lemon candied fruits, berry jam (red currant, mountain ash, cowberry), lemon pepper, grapefruit crust, sweet-oily shades with the transition to confectionery motifs, dried fruits.

    an always welcome dram

    a strong and interesting whisky
    but for me it is too inharmonious and uncharacteristic for 23 y Lagavulin
    It gives the impression that good and less good were mixed
    the result can not quite convince

      Immediately the Bourbon barrel with wood and vanilla
      Herbs
      young green pears
      Bronchial balm (ribwort plantain)
      essential oils
      Smoke (little reminiscent of Lagavulin smoke)
      but with a proper medical grade
      Bacon rather less
    • Taste
      Chocolate soft start with malt
      then fiery hot coals on the tongue
      spicy
      a slight slightly gammelige barrel note
      on the palate, herbs, nice malty sweetness and hot smoke
      a dark chocolate note in the cheeks

      the mouth is interesting, dark, wood and some delicious sweetness, malty
      sweet and dark at the back

      at the second sip
      the mouth has a lot more herbs
      even the medical and etheric comes through strong
      and becomes more dominant
      Overall, the notes are a bit overwhelming

      a load of wood ash and smoke remains in the throat

      after a while something ethereal

    A wonderful smell, on the one hand, I want to smell more and more, on the other finally try. That's the way it has to be. The whisky looks very ripe and noble. A whisky without pace and haste, but with tremendous power; you can feel it without having to fully develop. Like a dozing bull in the sun. The finish looks eternal. Like a picture that does not want to leave your head.

      Smoke, but not too strong, barely alcohol, ripe peach, salty air, the smell reminds me of a Mediterranean port in a brooding summer heat, sweet, a hint of vanilla, very warming, a bit medicated, a touch Wick Vaporup

      Hot he runs over the tongue, the alcohol does not burn, but it has astringent, sweet, spicy oak without bitterness
    • Finish
      Smoke settles on the palate, but not dominant, more like a cloud of smoke on the horizon, oak, but again not bitter, the whole throat glows pleasantly, very long

    A beautiful Lagavulin, as usual. A superb mastery and a real pleasure to taste.

      Beautiful power on a nose clearly Laga! There is lemon, slightly ashy smoke with vegetal and menthol notes. Behind hides some slightly fruity notes.
    • Taste
      Attack well controlled, well integrated alcohol. There are spices and fish smoke. Some dry fruits mingle with the dance. Watts but not too much.
    • Finish
      Nice length on dry peat, dried fruits and light cocoa.

    An excellent Lagavulin. It could almost be regretted that sherry soothes as much and the difference in quality (and price) with a Lagavulin 12 remains unclear.
    • Nose
      Very fine, subtle, sweet, with a hint of iodine and peat and a certain freshness, almost exotic. Alcohol is perfectly integrated.
    • Taste
      Superb entry into the mouth, sherry reduces peat and ashes and creates a creamy, rounded, slightly sweet, quite greedy, on dried fruits and chocolate. Very well balanced with medicinal notes in the background.
    • Finish
      Finish more sherry than peat, slightly ashen, and quite spicy (black pepper)

    Character: Islay at it's best. Complex, full-mouthed, exciting, changeable and harmonious at the same time. A true old master. Serene, elegant and powerful. This malt has nothing more to prove. Rating: A bottling that has probably burned into my top 10 for an eternity. The nose is almost no better and also taste and finish leave nothing to be desired. Everything really suits me here. I am in heaven! There are 96 points for that .

      Basic flavors: smoke, peat, malt, cereals, citrus aromas, maritime, salt, leather, sweetness, tea (black), herbs *, dried fruit *, vanilla *, licorice *; Comment: * = barely Description: I hesitated for a long time to write these notes, because I somehow miss the right words for this experience. From the first moment, a beguiling, complex Islay concentrate pours into the nose. Enormously rich peat and intense, sweet barley malt strike the wild coast of Islay with full broadside. An enormously varied and dense aroma game begins. Properly balanced, the nose alternates between its three main lines of life: (i) peat and peat smoke, (ii) sweet malt and grain, and (iii) iodine, algae and salty sea spray. The background is accompanied by fresh citrus notes: Grapefruit, lemons and oranges sparkle regularly. An elegant touch of black tea gives the nose an unusual finesse and a subliminal leathery touch sets another interesting counterpoint. Over time, more and more nuances come through. As soon as I realize that I notice a hint of mint, the sherry and raisin notes are very subtle. Slight hints of soft vanilla and some licorice are also part of the game. The range of flavors is incredibly wide and everything is really well balanced and in such a beautiful changeable river that I do not want to stop smelling. This is the best Islay nose I've ever had in my glass. I am moved and humble at the same time. Overall, this nose embodies no more and no less than the essence of Islay for me. What kind of aroma and what kind of balance. The alcohol is perfectly integrated; blindly I would never have typed on this high strength.

      Basic flavors: peat, smoke, ash, malt, maritime, salt, sweetness, meat (bacon), nut (almonds), coffee (espresso), wood, vanilla, citrus aromas *, Note: * = barely Description: Remarkably creamy, salty and intensely the drop hits the tip of the tongue. The body is extremely dense, round and soft. Powerful and gentle, the filling conquers the entire oral cavity. The taste really holds what the nose promises. Peat, peat smoke and ash meet intense maritime flavors. Iodine, algae and a pinch of sea salt are wonderfully present. They mingle with beautiful barley malt and for a while, aromatic smoked bacon comes into its own. A pleasant sweetness runs through the entire taste and in the transition to the finish, the oak unfolds its full power against the backdrop of subtle citrus fruits. A tasteful blend of almonds, espresso and a little vanilla makes for a wonderful transition to the finish. Simply great.

      Basic Flavors: peat, ash, coffee (espresso), nut (almonds), wood, chocolate (cocoa) Description: The finish is very long and reminds me of a warming glow that lasts for hours. A slightly sweet peat smoke fills the entire mouth and a slight ash taste sounds. There is plenty of espresso, intense almonds, cocoa powder and a wonderfully beautiful, soft and round oak. These barrels must have been really good. Wow!

    Nose : Citrus (grapefruits), underwood (mushroom and wet soil), polish, smoke, whiffs of dried fruits, almonds.

    Mouth : Lemon, menthol, smoke, oak, salt and pepper. Quite juicy and sweet.

    Finish : Long, citrusy, smoky, salty.

    Not overly complex but what a treat. Clean and perfect balance between lemon, peat, salt, pepper and oak.
