  1. KIMCHIBaby scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

An enhanced version of Yamazaki 12YO, which I was looking forward to.

There were many things that impressed me during the tasting this time.
The scent is stronger than the age, and the oakiness is also stronger than expected compared to the age. Is this what 18 years of aging is like? It was shocking.
    • Nose
      90 90
      N) White peach, baked apple, cypress, vanilla, apricot, bubble gum, green grape, mint

An intense and rich scent that belies the alcohol content of 43%
The fruitiness and sweetness of brightly colored, ripe stone fruits such as white peaches, baked apples, and apricots are emphasized.

You can feel the sweetness of vanilla and the slightly artificial sweetness of bubble gum.

The combination of green grapes, mintiness, and the cool forest scent of cypress trees reminds me of Grand Champagne Cognac.
After more breathing, you can feel heavy sweetness like honey and vanilla.
    • Taste
      89 89
      P) Green grapes, apricots, peach yogurt, figs, cypress trees, oak, mint, raisins

      Quite colorful and vivid layers

Juicy yet sweet fruity flavors such as green grapes, apricots, and figs
The sour yet distinctly sweet peach flavor of peach yogurt with jam
The coolness of cypress and mint and the tannin of oak are also slightly felt.
The overall strong raisin flavor is exist.
    • Finish
      89 89
      F) Yellow peach, apricot jam, green grapes, tannin, oak

Rich and heavy sweetness of yellow peach and apricot jam
Green grapes that are not at all overpowering in their heavy sweetness
The slightly astringent tannin and oak wood taste remain strong.

Everything from the nosing to the finish feels clear.
