A good CS sherried whisky. It used to be around €65,- prices go up, but it is still good price/quality. In the same range of Glengoyne CS.

This has a clear sherry nose. There is chocolate, leather and has a burst of dried red fruit. It is quite well made. I assume with water it will turn a bit better. With water it get indeed better, not that the notes will be different, but the alcoholic nip will go.

Sweet, a little bit on the alcohol side. But clearly sherry notes. It is not a bomb, but it is rather close to it. The obvious sherry notes are in here, so red fruit, leather. This is a little on the sour side though.

Medium-long finish. A bit nutty and slightly bitter. But overall again a clear sherried whisky.

Young and sprightly - Definitely under 10 years on average - no not my kind of whisky - Blind at the Chatstammtisch from a clean Sniffter of Raccoon

Great whisky, very well done. Complex nose, very pleasant palate. Easy going even on the full strength but releases more notes after adding water
    • Nose
Sweet, creamy, honeycomb, green apples, fruits, walnut, butterscotch after adding water
    • Taste
Spicy, caramel, honey, dried fruits, fudge
    • Finish
Long, warm, getting dry, dried fruits notes

Tasting notes in french on the whisky blog :D http://www.justanotherdram.com/en/tasting-notes/glendronach-cask-strenght-batch-4-2.html
    • Nose
A not so powerful attack than expected, especially after slight aeration. Very fruity, with a nice compote of plums, apricots with a touch of honey and vanilla. Also some grapes with a very light winey side probably due to PX casks. Some nice spices, even if we are far from the sherry bomb sold by some websites
A sweet nose, really, especially if you add a few drops of water, like a caress on your family jewels (well, ladies, if you do not have any family jewels, try to imagine).
    • Taste
More powerful in the mouth than with the nose and spices are more present (well, not like a kick in the family jewels either). For now, I would say that it is the Oloroso cask that expresses itself the most. We are rather on pepper and ginger with its pungent side in the mouth. The apricots and plums make their return just after this, as I like it, spicy and fruity.
    • Finish
Loooong, very long, and always the same with this fruity / spicy perfect balance.

Very good, perhaps a tad better and less American-oak-heavy than batch five.

  8. HunterRomario scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Aroma: Totally strong and dense scent, strongly in sherry style. Milky caramels, sweetened spicy. In direct comparison with CS3 it smells more pleasantly. CS3 is less sherry, the scent is more flat. (88 b)
Taste: Its percentages are smooth, patentable and without dilution. A lot of wood, strong dark chocolates, it's easy to swallow. Sherry is less than in taste. (86 b)
    Points: 87
Summary: Tested in a straight two-wheel comparison test with CS3. I have a bottle open, I have a big sample from a friend, but I have a bottle and I have to leave it for a couple of years and then see if the age is as positive as the one. There I was 88 for the premiere, but 93 and maybe three and a half years later. Perhaps somebody will be surprised that the whisky matures only in the barrel and in the bottle no longer, but it is a controversy. Even though it does not mature, it will surely "get old", of course something is happening to it in the bottle. But I turned it off and it would be another, longer, chatting.
