  1. Archer scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

The struck match gives it that certain something ...
    • Nose
      86 86
Greeted with beautiful notes of sherry: raisins, dried figs, nougat, marzipan. Removes a torn match. Mild peat smoke. Blackberry jelly, cloves, allspice.
    • Taste
      86 86
Creamy and full of acceleration. Children - Em eukal with black cherries. Blackberries, warm peat smoke, malt, fresh bread dough, herbs.
    • Finish
      85 85
Becomes a little thin, but smoke and sweet grape notes linger for a long time.

  2. HammerHead scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      85 85
Mild bonfire smoke, spicy with cinnamon, nutmeg and some ginger, blueberries, plum, piccalilly, a little nutty and a sawdusty wood note.
    • Taste
      84 84
A red fruit candy sweetness, currants, greasy smoke, toasted wood, walnuts, tobacco, black pepper, ginger.
    • Finish
      83 83
Long: red fruit sweets, black liquorice, wet soil, spicy with leather, ashes and charcoal.

  3. Dram Brigade scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Not too dramtic kind of sherry peated whisky, balance, very rounded as the sweetness soften the peat.
    • Nose
Rounded peat, dirty sherry, sugary sweetness, some salt, fragrance engine oil, barley, fruit candy.
    • Taste
Delicate peat, balance with sherry sweetness, sooty
    • Finish
Pretty long, sweet licorice and ashes

Tasted as sample of 30ml on 27 Mar - IWD

    Its my first Kilchoman
The nose was killing me , the smoke was intense as its my first smoky Islay whisky

The medicinal was lingering , heavy medicinal taste for me

medium finish , burnt rubber , medicinal taste lingering

    Quite good for its price
    • Nose
      85 85
Powerful strong smoke and soot, burnt saltpeter, smoked meats, engine oil. It gradually calms down and sherry motifs begin to appear: dried fruits, raisins, chocolate, fried sugar.
    • Taste
      84 84
Soot, ash, matches, minerality (gravel?), A little caramel sweetness, raisins, spices. Seemed liquidish.
    • Finish
      85 85
Long-lasting, ashy, slightly soft skin and citrus, long and strict.

Serge rated this 90pts, let's see how much it fares in my book
    • Nose
      88 88
On the nose, it has a bit of everything - burnt rubber, burnt wooden stacks, some light earthiness, sweet sherry notes, some blueberries and fruit jam. Bit of sulphur-ish, struck match, and the dried fruits become more apparent after a while. Chocolate with raisins appeared after a sip.
    • Taste
      88 88
Sweet and savory, with gentle smokiness and saltiness. Nice sherry influence which is not overwhelming, with nice touch of wood smoke and oakiness. Some slight bitterness and licorice.
    • Finish
      87 87
Rather long, tad of rubbery and nuttiness, dried orange peel, and warm smokiness.

  7. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Good standard, Kilchoman and Oloroso go very well together for me
    • Nose
Spicy smoke blows towards you, tobacco, cigarette ash, lemon, plus rather dry sherry, some cinnamon, slightly malty, vanilla also comes through, freshly unpacked printer paper, some milk chocolate, but a slightly fresh and clearly spicy smoke is definitely dominant here , also flowery, it becomes more and more lovely over time
    • Taste
creamy, sweet, chocolate, cinnamon smoke, plum, malt, ash, floral here too, some oak, the dominant note here is the creamy chocolate with ashy smoke, very pleasant to drink
    • Finish
the chocolate becomes dark, slightly nutty, creamy, fresh smoke, minimally minty, the smoke loses its strength at the back, medium-long

  10. Hupsende Hippie scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Would be better on cask strength. And if it were cheaper.
    • Nose
Delicious, subtle and balanced. Red fruit (raspberry / grape). Little peat. Lime.
    • Taste
Tasty Peat. Candy. Raspberry / plum and lime. Buttery. Dry spicy. Light, summery. Bit thin.
    • Finish
      Peat, red fruit, earthy
