Something strange, the aroma is quite dead, the taste / finish is much better, very strange herbal, potion notes everywhere, they are not quite in the subject, well, for the sake of variety, you can try it.
    • Nose
Restrained, moist, weak and flat, wood, grain, dust, wood glue, old books, dried medicinal herbs, cappuccino.
    • Taste
Thick, saturated, oak, sweet caramel notes, astringency of bark, coffee, herbs, licorice.
    • Finish
Spicy, warming, nuts, oak, caramel, grain, dry herbs.

A very unusual Bruichladdich, which I felt rather in the direction of Port Charlotte. The influence of smoke in the malt is also very special and more noticeable in the taste and finish, while the nose shows rather a comparatively less smoky, but phenolic component. The intense woodiness knows how to please, after just 12 years of maturity, this whisky is a feast for fans of intense woody Sherryfassreifungen.
    • Nose
Intense notes of raspberries, sprinkled with sugar, first enter the nose. There are also sour cherries and apricots. Fresh beeswax candles and a clear influence of smoke make this malt unique among the Bruichladdich bottled so far by Malts of Scotland. The smoke is more phenolic or "peaty" than less "smoky." After a long nosing, butter cookies, vanilla kipferl and, later on, slightly sour notes of unripe berries are revealed.
    • Taste
On the tongue first the alcohol clears its power. Not unpleasantly burning, but immensely powerful. Again very strong peat smoke, very unusual for a Bruichladdich. That would fit more in the Port Charlotte series. Blackberries, cherries and grapefruit bring intense fruitiness, before a dominant note of dry wood sets the tone. The mouthfeel changes from incipient oiliness to ever-drier wood.
    • Finish
Woody and bittersweet with hints of leather, cigar box, cardamom and very dark chocolate. The finish is long and warm, again and again one gets the impression that the woodiness gives way to a slight smokiness.

Very interesting nose...but the initial taste does not compete with the nose. Tight body and "poor" finish. At least: Disappointing when you consider the nose...

Intense Laddie. Waxy, deep, some peat, buttery. Once again, a well chosen cask by Thomas Ewers, significantly higher quality than average Bruichladdich bottlings, and again one to keep in your cabinet for later pleasure..

Pretty much peat influence for a laddie. In the nose also unusually waxy. That in combination with the Sherry Hogshead - pretty awesome!
