    No obvious flaws whatsoever’
N: I concur with SMWS regarding the Germolene. This is a simply moorish buttery and peaty Laphroaig without the TCP but with some little extras: Farmyard peat, smoked ‘Shreddies’, smoked soggy cornflakes, [cold] roasted chestnuts, a sprig of mint, melon, sweet cabbage and vanilla sponge cake mix.
T: Love this straight away. its clean and light even at 51.7%, which makes you wonder again why many of the official bottlings are bottled at 40%. As a result im not adding water. Its buttery soft on the palate [white unsalted], and after a dry start theres a succulent burst with a lingering development to carry you along. Drying oak heralds the finish with the smoke making itself known.
F: Along with the clean grain its sweet and salty with fennel~aniseed, chocolate peat-smoke and a comforting ‘womb’ like blanket resolve. Light but permeating smoke is your final word.
C: And theres much more i feel with this mature yet youthful laphroaig, a simple but engaging malt with admirable placement and spacing, delivered with excellent control. No obvious flaws whatsoever. loved it.

    Scores a B+

    SMWS Tasting Notes

    Colour: Peely wally

    Flavour: Peated

The panel were transported to a tranquil scene at the cricket pavilion.Old apothecary chests and Germolene merged with gentle applewood smoke and wet, mossy grass. Tuna steak with a crust of wasabi was served with crispy seaweed and posh salt and vinegar crisps. A selection of tea was on offer: nettle, Berber, camomile, Earl Grey. A smirr of rain evoked damp hessian sacks, and sportsman leathers like well worn gloves and knee pads. Sweet pipe tobacco wafted over a old fashioned chest of fresh linen. It finished with cool, ashy flavours and dark chocolate with mint and sea salt.

Drinking Tip: Careful with the water.
