Wolf in sheep's clothing, the nose is fantastic, strong but very harmonious and dominated by light notes. The taste is much more powerful than expected, but not so complex. Power Malt.

    Notes from a blind tasting.
    • Nose
Begin with a bright, slightly pungent medicine note to immediately go over to vanilla and biscuit notes. Pickled tropical fruits, again some medicinal, now no more alcohol in the nose. Something floral, almost perfumed, hovers over everything. Is becoming increasingly salty and slightly sweaty. After a while, light mint notes and latte coffee are added. The nose is very intense overall. After a longer life, the nose is very round, vanilla, caramel, very light, slightly sour fruit and salt. Warms up a bit more salty, more mint and butter biscuits. Still floral and fruity.
    • Taste
Strong alcohol, very well integrated, not too sweet, wild honey, clear oak and a lot of herbs and menthol. No salt on the tongue.
    • Finish
The alcohol warms for a long time, the sweetness is quite rapid, the herbs stay much longer, and finally the oak slowly turns into a pleasant tart nuttiness. Overall, medium to long.

    SMWS Tasting Notes

    Colour: Fool’s gold

    Flavour: Spicy & sweet

The initial nose neat left us with an impression of ‘well used’; cupboard, leather writing pad and the last spoonful of Madras curry powder out of a tin. This was soon followed by runny toffee, tea leaves, orange zest and toasted coconut. The taste was a ginger spiced fruit cocktail with fresh coconut and flavours of toasted cinnamon tea cakes with either plum or blackcurrant jam. Water adds a warm, homely feeling; sweet aromas of freshly brewed coffee from a stove top Espresso maker and to eat apple strudel, apricot tart and pineapple vanilla upside-down cake all fresh from the oven.

Drinking Tip: Coming home after a long walk
