As has often been noted, the older bottlings of the personality series are characterized by significantly more character and complexity than the current bottlings. The aroma profile appears much more mature and complex, as well as more complex and voluminous. Despite "only" 20 years, this 1978 looks extremely old and solid, complex and wonderfully balanced, a real "old-school piglet"! Just fantastic!

    • Nose
Creamy amber rests in the Premium Snifter, many small "legs" are released from the streaks adhering to the glass wall. Overripe and fermented fruits appear slightly musty at the first nose, sour cherries fall into fresh sawdust, caramelized sugar drips on oranges and apricots. Milk chocolate is whitewashed with fresh mint and a hint of menthol, followed by honey and toffee, along with sweet canned tangerines and a hint of vanilla. Hints of tobacco and leather are timid, sweet candied fruits and spicy oak tones dominate. The alcohol is wonderfully harmoniously integrated and supports the intense fruit aromas in the fight against the emerging wooden aromas.
    • Taste
The first sip flows sweetly and fruity on the tongue, apricots and peaches merge, milk chocolate and hazelnuts combine with toffee and raisins, subtle spiciness rests on the tongue. Morello cherries, plums and a hint of dark chocolate dominate the second sip, hints of leather and sour citrus fruits end slightly tart between the lips. Grated grapefruit and orange, fresh mint and creamy chocolate stimulate saliva. Wooden spiciness tickles with a pinch of white pepper and a few grains of salt on the tongue, minimally smoky hints come into play, sour cherries and grapefruit slowly gain the upper hand and refresh the palate. In the background there is an intense and spicy oak in the background, leather and tobacco flash, while the aromas gradually fade and announce the aftertaste.
    • Finish
Grapefruit and sour cherries stick to the palate with spicy oak, fresh mint and hints of menthol warm through smoking, hazelnuts appear and end in unripe walnuts. Sweet and sour, long-lasting and varied, the aftertaste really puts you in a good mood ...
