  1. Boletus did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Anyone who thinks that first-fill sherry casks are basically a sign of quality can see true quality here. The cask selection is excellent and doesn't show the slightest hint of a sulphurous tendency. However, the result of the 21 years of maturation is of course also extremely powerful and combined with the strongest notes of wood. Not easy to drink, but all the more impressive for that.
    • Nose
Fiery dates, burnt raisins, spice cake with dark chocolate icing, dried figs, vanilla, molasses, a little worn leather, caressing oak, blackcurrants, black tea (Darjeeling), toasted walnuts, prune, chestnut honey
    • Taste
Molasses, syrupy mouthfeel, spice cake with black cherries and burnt raisins, Kletzenbrot, the walnuts line the mouth like syrup, chestnut honey, a few pieces of orange peel, bitter almonds, dark chocolate, leathery, the European oak is all-encompassing
    • Finish
Long, strong black coffee, dates with dark chocolate, marzipan, almonds and walnuts, a hint of vanilla, again the raisins (of course slightly burnt), aromatic, spicy oak, the oak is becoming more and more massive, wild cherry, "a dry leather whip"
