  1. Vmarcinv scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

Nose - mineral, grassy, acacia honey, waxy, white fruit,
Taste - bourbon claw, then wax and hay, a lot of vanilla, a lot of spices - thyme, nutmeg, clove?
Finish - ongoing, oak, honey notes, wax, mint and white pepper.

  2. LDB scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

A good example of a well-made broraesque whisky!

  3. Mannix65 scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Typical Bourbon-Clynelish with beautiful waxy flowery and fruitiness - be careful with water: 1 drop is good for you, 2 are already too much and take the fruit a little to the detriment of woody bitterness
    • Nose
      89 89
Beeswax, gorse blossoms, prickly pear, a fragrant flower garden, elderberry lemonade, unripe white mountain peaches, quince, crushed grain, fruit cake, toast, a bit mineral
    • Taste
      88 88
Again clearly the prickly pear, green melon, quince and mirabelle plums, light malt and fruit sweetness - water brings out the mineral and metallic note of rhubarb compote, behind it the dry oak with a subtle bitterness
    • Finish
      87 87
medium length - fruity sweet and dry

Wax, pot pourri, citrus, vanilla, sweet popcorn, sweet fruit
    • Taste
      88 88
Wax, pepper, vanilla, sweet, fruit and pot pourri. Citrus fruits and perfume.
    • Finish
      88 88
Wax, pepper, vanilla, fruit and citrus fruit and pot pourri. It also becomes very floral and spicy at the end.

  9. Dre73 scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Very enjoyable whisky, fruity and very floral.
    • Nose
      89 89
Flowers, some lavender even, fruity, citrus. Candlewax, a hint of tea, apples as well, and tropical fruits.
    • Taste
      89 89
Full-bodied and strong, floral again, and fruity. Citrus. Also some bitterness arrives, grapefruits. And sweet, vanilla.
    • Finish
      88 88
Slightly pungent, fruity, citrus, again some bitterness, a hint of tea again.

  10. Archer scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

At first on the tip of my tongue I thought, now it is turning completely bitter. But it has caught up nicely and thus gets a nice changeable character.
    • Nose
      88 88
At the beginning tropical fruits, ripe (mango, papaya, pineapple, melon, lemon) and something waxy. The fruits are accompanied by mild herbs, salt, a hint of vanilla, honey, and later some wood. Very pleasantly airy, light and refreshing.
    • Taste
      88 88
Very oily and velvety with a herbal start. Less fruity than on the nose, at least less tropical fruity. Here on the tongue it's more like green apples and grapes. Floral notes. The 19 years in the barrel are noticeable on the tongue with a bitter wood note. The herbs set, and nutmeg and ginger are added. Likewise, grapefruit and lemon juice. Later it gets sweeter again with honey and toffee candy.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium-long, oily, fine dry and at the same time fruity.

Very nice nose, but the taste I personally find less
    • Nose
Very sweet nose. Raspberries, vanilla, caramel.
    • Taste
At first sweet with notes of raspberries and roses. Then the true nature comes up: vanilla, something caramel.
    • Finish
      Medium dead long finish.

Compared wit Clynelish 1997 DoD, Clynelish 1997 ANHA, Clynelish 1997 TWC and Clynelish 1996 SMS.

This is the most floral Clynelish.
    • Nose
Smoke, wax, citrus, some ashes and floral - potpourri.
    • Taste
Floral, citrus - grape fruits, syrup and some smoke. Vanilla, some wax and hops - saaz.
    • Finish
Bitter fruits, lemon, wax, spices and some pickle - MacDonals sauce.

Not much to say here, except for that it is certainly one of the best modern Clynelishes I've tasted.
    • Nose
Candlewax followed by fruit, from green to more tropical. Freshly cut apples, lemon, pineapple, banana and mango. There's some ginger here too, and after a while it gets a bit grassy with some cane sugar. But in the end it is the fruit that returns and dominates.
    • Taste
Waxy with orange, lemon, tangerine and a bit of oak (sawdust). Some vanilla, and chalk with ginger and grapefruit, also some wood spices.
    • Finish
White grapes, pear and apples and lots of wax. Very long.

All things considered (nose, taste, finish) / overall judgement:
In my opinion the Clynelish 1995 SMS (http://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/55443/clynelish-1995-sms) is better than this Clynelish 1995 W-F.
And this Clynelish 1995 W-F is slightly better than the Clynelish 1997 C&S (http://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/58782/clynelish-1997-cs) and the Clynelish 1998 MBa (http://www.whiskybase.com/whisky/39960/clynelish-1998-mba)

N: Waxy lemon and ginger nose.

P: Big and complex, a pleasing tartness within a warm, creamy, waxy frame.
    F: Excellent finish.

Notes: Fantastic Clynelish, big and smooth, lots of complexity. I prefer this one undiluted.

  24. WillemvdK scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

If you like them fruity and creamy it doesn't get any better than this I guess. Just the right balance between fruity spirit and spicy wood influence. Excellent dram!
    • Nose
Oranges, lemons, pineapple, banana, mango, powdered sugar, caramel sauce, maple syrup, grilled agave. No, better yet: there's some mescal in there. No doubt. And of course the famous paraffin wax coating. I love this!! Also some sweet white wine (Muscat)
    • Taste
Thick and creamy sweet arrival. Sweet lemonade (lemon drink) with vanilla and flower honey. Very, very waxy. A lot like vanilla scented candles. The total experience is very balanced and civilized. A little water brings out more vanilla and spreads the aroma's a bit more. Is that some woodsmoke? It's the mescal again ;)
    • Finish
long, a little dry and very waxy (again). In the end it becomes a bit more mineral with some chalk.

  25. KayMeertens scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Had a really small sample of this one.
    • Nose
Lemon, tangerine, caramel, vanilla, honey and limestone. More creamy after a while, but the sour citrus stay dominant.
    • Taste
Citrus, honey, lime and vanilla. A weird waxiness, like aroma candles (not that I ever had a bite). Quite floral as well.
    • Finish
Lemon, tangerine, honey and a whiff of mint.
