The aroma battles on the spot, I want to savor it forever, I do not even want to take a sip, because you know - if the taste was at the level of flavor - it would be a paradise (remembering a famous anecdote) or at least twice the price tag. And yet - the taste / aftertaste lags behind the extremely high-cut aroma bar, on the whole it is a wonderful example of the skill of the blender - the wild amount of tones and shades, the symbiosis of bourbon and sherry barrels (although in this bourbon mix significantly dominate) in all components, harmonious assembly in a single whole without loss of individuality, density and power, bravo! I think a lot of people experimented at their leisure mixing a couple of other mallets to their taste and we all remember how from two distinct whiskys we often get a complete mess, so let's give people who have solved a hundred times more difficult task :)
    • Nose
Saturated, fresh, processed wood, furniture varnish, solvent, stain, resin, perfume notes, dried fruits, raisins, toffee, boiled condensed milk, peaches, prunes, kiwi, banana, valerian, motherwort - extremely wide shade composition, all evenly and bizarrely mixed , dynamically replace each other folding again and again in a variety of combinations - an aromatic kaleidoscope, endless enthusiasm.
    • Taste
Sweet and sour, astringent, with oak bitterness - cranberries, cranberries, condensed milk, mint, rhubarb, tropical fruits, grilled sugar.
    • Finish
Light, ginger, creamy, sourish fruit compote, mandarin crusts, delicate oak bitterness in the background, mint, resin

[March, 2017]  Really nice stuff, easy to sip and yes, delicious. Just the price tag is
simply unreasonable.  But as long as people buy at these prices it seems
okay, why should the distillery owners not maximize their profits?

...another sign of a further inflating whisky bubble.

The trademark Balvenie honey from the american oak barrels are predominant here, which is a good thing. Flowery honey, only a touch of fresh sherry fruitiness to add another layer to it. This distillery is still one of the best in my book and one of the main reason why I keep coming back to this beautiful honeyed bourbon matured profile. A little green banana and kiwi too.
    • Taste
Just amazing. The abv is spot on. Very juicy and luscious honey, vibrant oak, kiwi jam, aromatic, licorice, sweet ginger
    • Finish
      medium length

  6. Jack Marinello scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Very floral, coffee, gingerbread (?), Vanilla, caramel, spices including cinnamon
    • Taste
Alcohol does not feel, still a little flowers, vanilla, honey, bitter oranges
    • Finish
Good length, spices coming back, light wood
