    What a color, what a nose, what an aroma, what a gigantic drop! A really unusual aroma composition, an unusual taste experience, extraordinary drops!

    • Nose
      What kind of colour! Dark copper shimmers orange in the Premium Snifter, oily "legs" stick to the glass wall. Dark sherry rises, dark chocolate and sour cherry combine, wet leather and a hint of sweet tobacco, dates and raisins. The alcohol is wonderfully integrated, gradually dark grapes and berries appear, dried fruits end in dark chocolate. Slightly meaty and oily, gentle and extremely complex, this nose is really fun! Hints of espresso, roasted hazelnuts and sugar candy, dark caramel, I could smell this complex nose forever.
    • Taste
      PX sweetness flashes briefly, sweet raisins and apricots come into play for seconds, after which cozy warmth envelops the tongue. Dark chocolate plays with dark wood elements, extreme spice is in the air, hints of warm espresso, sour cherries and currants follow before pleasant sharpness massages the tongue and slowly creeps into the cheeks. The second sip flows through the mouth in a mild and creamy way, peppery spiciness is released with a chilli catch from tart wood tones, broth massively stimulates saliva, hazelnuts and a minimal hint of bacon, leather and minimal tobacco, sour cherries and dark chocolate. Wonderful!
    • Finish
      Voluminous and oily stick meat broth and dark chocolate on the palate, on the tongue rests espresso and spicy, dark wood tones. PX sweetness, sweet raisins, morello cherries and cocoa are again evident. The aftertaste for the lap of honor starts spicy and greasy and puts a smile on my face!

    Chicken broth, bone marrow. Cooked figs, plum sauce, raisins, maple syrup, PX sherry, wet tobacco. Oak and roasted coffeebeans. With time, slightly bourbony.


    Sweet cream sherry, Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, chocolate chips, plumjam, salty chicken broth, soysauce. Chewing on a european oak stave. Astringent coffeebeans and amaretto. Mouthcoating, thick and rich.


    This is also a winner. Goes to show that not all dark sherry bottlings taste the same. An oak and sherry monster of the highest order. On or two more years in cask, and you would have had pure oak juice. /91

      Long, spicy and sweet

    Water brings more nuts to the flavor and finish, almonds in particular. I find this one as complex as the 23 years old 1990 version. This one is just as good as any single cask Glendronach (with a few exceptions from 1993 which are just world class).

      On the nose: WOW! Really heavy sweet and sour sherry notes, dried dates, prunes and juicy raisins. Spicy cinnamon and nutmeg, dark chocolate and leather, brown sugar, tobacco, a cup of hot espresso, cashew or brazil nuts, over ripe banana and fire crackers.
    • Taste
      On the palate: A very sweet and spicy arrival, intense and warm with a hint of table salt at the front of the tongue. After a while the sherry sourness intensifies, molasses appear and bitter over-brewed tea again which goes into the finish.
    • Finish
      Plenty with chocolate and raisin on the finish, coffee again together with the sweet and sour sherry.

    I did not have enough sweets, but this has its charm. (21) An interesting mole, extremely sherry, invigorating.88

    Very good but you have to like heavy sherry.

      Massive sherry , treacle, plum sauce, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate and dark soy sauce.
    • Taste
      Wow that is really spicy, dark treacle, prunes, dates and plump dark raisins. It is very creamy and there is some bitterness in there, this is a full fat whisky
    • Finish
      Warming and spicy with good length

    Very lush and bold sherry cask matured Balblair! An enticing expression
    of a real sherry bomb. Quite an intense, complex dram, packed full of
    sherry flavour. A rich and deep character with a gorgeous nose and a
    more powerful palate. Multi-layered and well-balanced with loads of
    molasses, dark fruits and nutty flavours. A grown-up whisky which I
    prefer to enjoy neat, with plenty of time in front of a cozy fireplace.

    • Nose
      Oh yes, that's heavy stuff! Lots of sherry! Bold, rich and intense
      oloroso sherry backbone with maraschino cherries, prunes, dates, figs,
      and raisins. Sweet with molasses, liquorice, and a bitter touch of soy
      sauce, pleasantly mixed with dark chocolate, coffee, orange zest and
      lovely spicy cinnamon, oak and nutmeg. Damp and earthy notes develop
      with tender leather, burnt matches and a whiff of sulphur in the back.
      Really a very big nose!
    • Taste
      What the nose promises the palate delivers. Rich, intense and strong
      with a massive load of sherry, treacle, dark ripe fruits, cherries,
      raisins, prunes and thick molasses. This is complemented by a warming
      spiciness of oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, and subtle cloves. Chocolate coated
      coffee beans and delicate walnuts nicely linger with tobacco, earthy
      notes and subtle flavours of flintstone and rubber towards the finish.
    • Finish
      The finish is very long, sweet with prunes and liquorice, and pleasantly
      warm with plenty of nutty flavours, nicely mixed with dark chocolate,
      coffee beans, raisins, cinnamon and a wee herbal touch of mint on the

      WITH WATER: Despite the heavy sherry load, there's more
      fruitiness coming through with a splash of water, especially cherries!
      The damp and earthy notes are almost vanished. The sweetness is
      increasing on the palate and the fruitiness becomes slightly vibrant
      with the addition of citric flavours. Lots of cherries and less nutty
      notes in the back. The finish is still long with significantly less
      fruit and more focus on the chocolate and expresso notes with a bitter
      and dry end.
