Don't know if it's the aeration or me (or both) but I enjoyed it much more than 2 years ago. The nose was great, subtle and complex and the mouth was intense and flavory.

    Tasting notes from october 2016.
    • Nose
Peat smoke, ashes, coastal notes, various kind of nuts, hints of vanilla, lemon and pine resin.
    • Taste
Ardbeggian was my first thought. Ardbeg was my first crush whisky-wise. I started with the Ten 4 years ago and afterwards the Corrywreckan and Uigeadail. I feel like I just rediscovered what Ardbeg is or should be as I was quite disappointed with recent Ardbeg Day releases. Typical Ardbeg peat. Ashes, coastal notes, spices, lemon.
    • Finish
      Long, smoky, ashy, citrusy.

This is essentially a bottle of barely legal whisky. You can still taste the new make. Compared to 4 different Uigeadails (L8, L11, L12 and L66) this feels younger and very simple, and makes Octomores seem like champions of long maturation. I wouldn't trade two bottles of this for a bottle of Caol Ila 12yo.

In retrospect I think Ardbeg chose the name for this bottling very well. After all, a supernova happens when a star is close to dying...

Peat of course, and immediately, super sweet and sweet at the same time. Already spicy just on the nose. And fresh fruit, which surprises me, I who had a memory of Supernova 2010 rather get in there. Palate, intense, loaded with spices. Will it surprise you if I specify that there is a lot of peat? Intense but without any ounce of aggressiveness. It must be believed that he was bottled up to the right degree. I hesitate even to add water. Ok, I'm going. I do well ! Nose, citrus fruits, salt and fresh juicy fruits are clearly visible! (Definitely!) A little caramel. The touch of mouth is fluid, sweet. Finale with wood and fresh lemon. Enthusiasm 4/5

  10. Lorion scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Tasty, but not a supernova of smoke and taste, nor outstanding for my personal senses. 85 points.
    • Nose
Smoke. Intensive and superficial. It's a campfire. Then come incense, closely followed by spilled gum. PVZ. Grapefruit and lime abrasion. It gets sweeter and some spice comes through. Ginger. Pepper. Sweet paprika powder. A touch of honey.
    • Taste
Creamy and sweet. Only with delay comes the smoke. Honey is here. Smoky, greasy dessert.
    • Finish
Long, sweet and salty. Smoke is discreetly there.
