- Tasting Notes:
- MEASUREMENT PRESSURE (80/100)
Prunes, raisins, some pepper
Medium long, very slightly bitter
- This is very tasty with dark chocolate or cheese. Do not add water !!
Raisins, chocolate, toffee, a little pepper and a hint of apple
Raisins, coffee, chocolate, light pepper and some tobacco
Medium, sweet, greasy and light pepper
- Wow, a refill keg? Hard to believe. Very intense sherry with fine tobacco notes. The old age (25 years) makes itself felt. I really like the Blair Athol.
Fine fruity sherry pours out of the glass. Oranges mingle with dark fruits and are wonderfully fruity. Slight sulfur is noticeable, the 46% alcohol is perfectly integrated. A fine tobacco flavor ends the delicious nose.
Intense Sherry with subtle and subtle wood notes. Now the sherry is getting wooden and voluminous. A wonderful creaminess distributed on the palate. Tobacco and dates mingle, light orange aroma pushes through the tobacco. Slightly bitter, the Refill Butt emits a plump warmth. Now coffee aromas are added. Subtle pepper is becoming more intense and sharper.
The finish starts slightly wooden. Gradually the finish becomes more bitter, the pepper becomes more intense. The finish reflects the tobacco flavors of the taste again. Pleasant, plump warmth fills the mouth. With a touch of coffee and tobacco, the fine finish ends.
- Blair Athol 1988 - 2014, 25 years, 46% alc. Bottler: vanWees Removal: refill sherry barrel No 6927 Region: Highlands, Scotland
Nose: Winter spices, plums and raisins, orange peel and a little apple. Then dark chocolate and tobacco, in the background a bit damp moor.
Palate: syrup, raisins and earthy flavors, spices, tobacco and coffee. Eta's bitter oak, rhubarb and a hint of pepper in the back.
Finish: Medium to long, bitter spicy, a nice cargo of oak and then a slight hint of sulfur.
Conclusion: Very nice sherry influence, really just a "refill"?
89/100 points (tasted 2015, ca. 70-80 €) For the sample I thank Theresia Tammer (The whisky house)
- I expected more from this dram and that age, never the less a reasonable dram. A-rubber-plant-packed-with-some-fruit-whisky.
Deep aromatic, sherry with apples, baking products, chocolate, fruityness, sulphury notes like a linoleum floor (rubbery) and woody notes.
Sweet, bitter, warming, estery/chemical, Sulphury flavors (rubber), drying, somewhat vanilla and spicy.
warming, dryish, fruitcake like, and a faint of rubber.
