Whisky Reviews for Yoichi 20-year-old
20 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.42 points
- Good but very disappointed compared to other tasting of this Yoichi 20yo.
Bottle tired? Bad batch?
Liquorice, cold ash, sherry, leather, slightly lemony. Very small point of sulfur.
On the palate it is soft, slightly watery, on leather, wood, ash.
In the final on the ash, the cheese, the sulfur.
- I purchased this about 4-5 years ago in Tokyo for around $230 and I thought that cost a bomb. Well, good luck even finding this nowadays.
Rainy day in a buddhist temple, with incense in the background. There is also fragrant wood. Also something sour or is it pickled? Weird, but not off-putting.
Salty, a bit oily, spicy, peaty, cola candy, and always this beautiful incense/fragrant wood in the background which I also find in Hanyu and Chichibu, even though it's a bit more subtle here.
Nice finish, long. Perhaps you can taste "Wong Lo Kat" in the aftertaste (a sweetened, canned, Chinese herbal tea). A hint of high-mountain oolong tea also.
Intense heat on nose, be patient and let your senses adapted to the
beefy puffs. Slightly shy to reveal initially but a monster when fully
unleashed. Intense sweet fragrant of dried monk fruit with whiff of plum
bouquet. Nose deeply, light decay note reveal, resembling peaty whisky from Campbeltown
and very Longrow.
Palate:- Creamy and flavoursome. Cabbage rawness with nugmet sweet and
pungent. Masculine and rush of flavour, eye-watering spicy dram.
Finish:- Gloriously long. Well rounded and high on mark. Loud and solid
dram packed with loads of precious components. Gum numbing. Chewy.

- With water I would say the bitterness is more evident but it is still very easy to drink.
This is really good and at 52% I do not think water is needed, recommended.
Coffee, strong sherry, treacle toffee, varnish, smokey.
Coffee, prunes, dark chocolate, oaky bitterness but in a good way, very smooth, elegent.
Medium length, smooth.
