  1. Hemdl scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Wonderful bottling, which once again proves the high quality of the "Mission Gold" (and generally with Murray McDavid). An Ardbeg "older days", which clearly shows that it does not always (ripening) maturation in any other wine / spirits barrels need and a rave about.
    • Nose
This nose is absolute madness. A sweet potpourri of vanilla pods and creamy honey notes, all garnished with a smoky peat fire in the background. Much less the dark-sweet "peatbomb" than the Arbeg occurs on newer bottlings. Instead, downright light and sweet-creamy nose, the alcohol hardly noticeable.
    • Taste
The malt needs something on the tongue to unfold its force. At first a bit reserved, he reveals his origin after a short moment. Salty, smoky, powerful, yet with a hint of vanilla and marzipan. The cask strength is much more pleasant and milder therefore, as it can expect the pure number.
    • Finish
The long, naturally sweet-smoky finish makes it slightly dry in the mouth. No bitterness.
