    Great drops, very tasty and sweet, but a bit monotonous
    • Nose
      phenolic smoke, immature apple, hay, light spice of herbs (mint, thyme)
    • Taste
      Peat smoke, vanilla, again hay and herbs, youthful sweet
    • Finish
      smoky and medium long

  4. Hupsende Hippie scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

    Quite a lot less than the other Kilchoman expressions I tasted.
    • Nose
      Salmiak and citrus. Maybe a little apricot. Light nose.
    • Taste
      Thin. Light salmiak and earthy. Hint of green apple and green banana, but not fruity. The sherry influence is negligible. Peat in particular.
    • Finish
      Very short. Peat. Dry. Bitter.

    • Finish
      long balanced peat , honey, spicess,

    Very good, easy-going Everyday-Whisky, which wins over good integrated smoke, malt and a citrus fuitiness!

    I like to repeat myself: everything I expect from a Kilchoman ...
    • Nose
      Exactly what I expect from a Kilchoman: direct smoke (of industrial origin here), hard coal & tar, small peaty swabs. Underneath crushed soft fruits, fall fruit & an idea vanilla. The addition of water provides vanilla cream, moist succulent peat & tobacco smoke. Above all, fresh sea air blows.
    • Taste
      Again, typical Islay. No, typical Kilchoman! Dirty vanilla and fat smoke dance on overripe fruit pieces and damp soil. A slight creaminess is probably due to the vanilla. And with water? Yo, Baby, yo ... now it rocks properly & is not for the gentle ones ...: brine, bitter cold smoke, a little bit of fresh oak, some soft fruit, brine & coke.
    • Finish
      Here is the youth of this savage. industrial notes, wet ashtray, a splash of lemon juice, bitter tarry notes & cigarette smoke. Water make a puddle on the beach with a splash of lemon juice from the finish. Add malt with vanilla flavor and a few bitter sounds (wood?)

    smoky, citrus, some sweetness, malt. Easy drinking Malt, quite delicious but without leaving a lasting impression on me.

    An interesting whisky with an intense smoke note in the lead role - 09.04.2016
    • Nose
      Smoke, mineral, rusty steel, machine oil, car tires, malt sweetness in the background, which is difficult to penetrate, earthy, musty, wet hay, after a while, a slight sulfur note forms
    • Taste
      A very oily-buttery malt sweetness, earthy, musty, ash, cold cigarette smoke, sparkling alcohol, woody bitter notes, rosemary
    • Finish
      medium

  13. Dede scored this whisky 78 points Expert Senior

    Moderately peaty, lactic aromas (sour milk), lemon, some herbs of Provence and white pepper.

    The attack is flat, but the middle of the mouth still wins in intensity, peat, soap scented with lavender, lemon, vanilla.

    Medium length finish, slightly bitter (hint of liquorice), peaty and still this slight artificial floral aroma.

    To conclude and make brief: better buy a good old Laphroaig or Talisker 10yo for the price!

  15. kulideli scored this whisky 83 points Expert Junior

    Flavor: Islay smoke, citrus, iodine, sea, paint color, sour cucumbers;

    Taste: Smoky-sweet, "Farbaroma", licorice !, peppery pungency;

    Finish: medium, with sweetness and fruitiness;
    Conclusion: A real Islay whisky. I think he is well-crafted. The PLV is lousy because it is really expensive for such a young whisky. Still a worthwhile must for Islay friends, he should not be missed in the experience. Decently equipped for the price: solid cardboard, thick bottle, cork with wood obendran. Somehow the price has to pay off.

  17. Bishlouk scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

    More monolithic and goes everywhere than the 100% Islay.
    • Nose
      Quite erased, slightly grassy. Dry smoke. A light nose, but which develops, takes shape and becomes more present with time.
    • Taste
      Entry of aqueous mouth, but which becomes melted on the peat sweetness. Light vanilla hints.
    • Finish
      Pepper and smoke are needed. Slight bitterness.

  18. Hansi scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

    Delicious whisky; the most complex of recent Machir Bays
    • Nose
      Pronounced peat smoke nose, cold ash; very fresh, alcoholic pungency stings something on the nose, cooked yellow fruit, light strawberry touch, honey, nut, vanilla, some notes of wood / spice (furniture polish), only slightly metallic
    • Taste
      Smoky, medium body, slightly oily, a lot of yellow fruit, tingling sharpness on the tongue, quite a lot of wood / spicy notes, some sherry, slightly bitter
    • Finish
      long, smoky, hot
