    Thnx to Shane ! Pours Darker, browned gold. Scent is very gentle , aged wood, strong alcohol, malty, fairly 'thick'. mild touch of vanilla. Taste is very full and outspoken. definately shows it's alcohol - more than I expected actually. Mineral - salty almost. Aged wood. Strong and intense whisky, yet has great balance and complexity. Vanilla remains very mild (even more so than the scent) Lovely profile of the minerality.

    Everything is swept away by a mighty hurricane ... the hegemony of oak in taste and aftertaste, obvious imbalance, sometimes you get the impression that you chew oak boards, seize oak bark and drink with oak juice, not the most successful batch.
    • Nose
      Fresh, wet, lacquer, carpentry workshop, resin, dried fruits - raisins, dried apricots, dried sweet grapes, creamy notes, melted milk, toffee, wine tones through them from the background.
    • Taste
      Pepper-oak, lemon peels, oak too much, creamy notes, boiled condensed milk;
    • Finish
      Pepper-oak, in the background - tropical fruits, red oranges, compote of sourish berries, oak dominates, bitter and knits, scores other components, it's too much.

    What a delightfully sweet dram

    Appearance: The bottle has a dark red amber hue, while a single serving is more of a ruddy golden brown.

    Water: I added no water. I found that the smallest amount water changed the balance of this whiskyand actually made the alcohol more noticeable, and turned it completely dry.

    Nose: Because of the alcohol it takes a while to open up and calm down but if you are patient and hold back it will come to you. I first got hit with a big rose blackberry sherry perfume. Then it had this wonderfully complex amalgamation of flavors: candied orange peel, with dried cranberries, raspberries, a little apricot, all melded together with a sweet honey note. Wonderfully crafted and complex. Spiked Fruitcake. Had touches of cinnamon, cocoa powder, and a smidgeon of oak pepper.

    Taste: The arrival was a sweet sherry that is married well with the creamy buttery honeyd malt. The development is where all the fruity flavors above mentioned manifested itself, then it finishes with a sublime malty finish, slightly phenolic and a glancing peck of cinnamon, and rose.

    Mouthfeel: oily rich and dense Overeview: wonderfully complex and supremely well balanced my favorite right next to MACALLAN 10 YEAR Cask strength, LAPHROAIG 10 YO Cask strength batches 1,2,3,4 , The Quarter Cask,Port Askaig 30 YO, and ARDBEG UIGEADIAL,

    The nose is nice and nutty, the taste is classic and typical, body well balanced, finish is amazing. What you expect from Aberlour, consistency. Priced as usual and display still the box.

    This was an interesting find, I was working at a job installing the kitchen cabinets and at the ed of the day the owner offered me a splash of scotch. Of course I said sure, and he showed me the collection of about 4 bottles worth. Immediately I identified the Aberlour and noticed it was almost full, and said lets try this one. He then went on to say it was to strong for him and I bartered with him for it. It turned out to be a nice trade off and tasty evening. Keep your eyes open, you`ll never no what you`ll find.
