A relatively old bottling from the Laggan Mill series by Coopers Choice, bottled in 2014 and therefore almost 10 years ago.

Could actually most likely be a Lagavulin. I would like to see more Sherry Islay whiskys like this that are balanced and not smoke dominated or drowned in sherry.

You can hardly feel the young age here, which is also due to the fact that the aromas are not exactly reserved. But still, neither the sherry nor the smoke is too dominant or penetrating. I really like it.

Bacon smoke, raisins, sweet malt, chocolate with a sea salt background. The flavors are balanced and harmonize very well. The alcohol is very well integrated. All in all a well-rounded story.

The palate starts a little more sparkling, sweetness from barley malt, the sherry is nice and subtle and not so sticky fat. There is still a lot of distillate and a slightly bitter saltiness in the background. Has to think about salted liquorice for a moment, but that shouldn't put anyone off. Overall balanced and tasty.

The mouthfeel is really pleasant for the age and the 51 percent and I also like that it's not such a sticky sweetness that covers the entire palate. The finish is short, not quite of medium length, but that is forgivable for the key data.
Almost 89 points, because you can still see a lot of distillate here and that was not necessarily to be expected due to the color.
