    Huijuijui. Nothing for everyone, not even for every peat nose. Getting used to than most of the young Islays I drank. On the fine line between "very interesting" and "does not work at all" ;-)
    • Nose
      jumps one directly when opening the sample bottle: Auto repair shop - metal, oil, some molten plastic, dried sweat, in the glass then more metal (which does not bother, but somehow fits) and salty, mineral freshness ... later some cereal , Bubble gum sweet
    • Taste
      Oily-bitter, diesel oil, ashed plastic, ash, again very metallic, in between cereal sweetness, a little banana
    • Finish
      medium, varying from sip to sip between metallic-bitter and earthy-sweet

    AnCnoc 'flaughter' (46%, OB, peated, 14.8ppm, 2014) Four stars‘The Flaughter spade is used to remove the top layer of peat which is richer, more rooty and produces more reek.’ Colour: white wine (paler than the rutter). Nose: the peatiness is much bigger, we’re closer to some Islays, although it’s not much of a coastal whisky either. What’s sure is that this is also more mineral, certainly less fruity than the rutter, with a little coal, charcoal ashes and some apple peelings. Also fresh walnuts. Nice very clean nose. Mouth: excellent! I find smoked salmon, lemons, mezcal, cigarette tobacco, smoked almonds, some salt, maybe even oysters. Indeed, there’s something maritime in this baby’s palate. I find this quite complex given its probable young age. Finish: long, quite peaty, ashy, beautifully acrid and kind of sooty… Comments: I think this one is a great young peater, in the same league as other famous great young peaters starting with L, A, B, T or C (please don’t spend too much time on that). I’m impressed. SGP:455 - 87 points.

    An interesting whisky which brings a bit of that old taste to the table.
    Looking forward to some older peated An Cnoc.
    • Nose
      87 87
      Metallic and a little minerally. Open a toolbox with rusty spanners, next to it small oil spill. The minerals bring with it a slight saltiness but behind that is organic honey and a few slices of green apple. A little burnt plastic in there as well.
    • Taste
      86 86
      Fruity on the arrival, green apples and a little pear. Behind a sharp note appears along with the peat. The palate has an Islay feel about it.
      Quite thick bit a tad basic.
    • Finish
      84 84
      On the finish very metallic, rusty nails and spanners from your grandpa's old toolbox. A sharp note is there with a little heat, also a mild maltiness.

    Good soft peat balance, pears soacked in vanilla smoke, plus lemonpie.
    Lacks complexity and feels a bit immature and flat.
    Better go for ardbeg an oa or an cnoc cutter
    the nose gives it an extra point so an overall 83 for me

    A really good drop.
    • Nose
      Straw, honey, smoke, burnt straw, exotic fruits, pear, oregano, thyme, vanilla, citrus
    • Taste
      Smoke, cashew, some rosemary, oak, honey, caramel, citrus fruits
    • Finish
      Relatively long, smoky, spicy, herbs

    After the first cost, I had to overcome myself, not just copy the Notes from Rascan and have again Peatlands (9ppm), Rascan (11,1) and Flaughter (14.8) side by side done in the glass. Peatlands is clearly the strongest, best. Rascan and Flaughter are milder, flatter, less smoke, with the Flaughter maybe a little better. I also just noticed, I had the 2015 ever and found him much more extreme - so tried to control again another well-known heavy smoker - everything normal. Strange. Bottle aging? Extreme day shape? No idea.

      short, minimal, inconspicuous smoke, pharmacy, a little vanilla, white chocolate, white pepper
    • Taste
      here too cozy smoke, some pharmacy and pipe smoke, brown candy, milk chocolate, for two milliseconds a tropical-bitter-fruity touch, something with passion fruit, a little warming sharpness, but not particularly strong
    • Finish
      medium, some smoke, pepper and tobacco

    Odor:
    Peat! would not we do it? . And to smell it is a CS. Furthermore, I do not get very far. Well, burning tires, weird coughs, etc.

    Taste:
    Peat, but also some sweets, caramel, fudge and the like. Furthermore, a pepper and peat. Later there will be some pineapple along with some other tropical fruit.

    Body:
    Mild and silky soft.

    Finish:
    Peat lingers for a long time, so a bit of iron taste and a bit of black pepper at the end.

    Comments:
    I think this is the BenRomach cs. One of the better peated that I ever have, despite not having much on it. The quality is good, you can taste it, but I just do not like it. 78 points. (Will you see that this is the bunna moine vW).

      fresh, slightly mineral, chewing gum, a hint of salt, slightly sweet, apple-fruit and citrus in the background, as well as a hint of vomit; dirty / oily smoke, scorched cold plastic, ashes swirling in the air, smoked (still cabbage) ham
    • Taste
      Sugar and some salt, old lemon and citrus drink, maybe a little tobacco, a bit puke here (if you like to taste), a hint of medical smoke and peat
    • Finish
      medium long, just as bitter and sweet with an earthy note, a bit lemony
