  6. Ivynor scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

Pretty fan at the beginning of this profile.
The whisky remains very diluted, weak in the final. The palate is easy, a little sweet, on toffee, vanilla and candied oranges

  7. Spirit of Delphi scored this whisky 73 points Member Senior

    • Nose
Sherry, oak, orange and forest fruit, more alcoholic
    • Taste
Strong, oak, more alcoholic, not particularly complex, but balanced in its limitedness
    • Finish
      medium

  8. 11insomnium scored this whisky 71 points Expert Senior

Nosing: Fresh, sherry, fruity, a little young and one-dimensional

Tasting: Young approach with sherry, spicy, sweet, slightly tart

    With water: Fruity, grassy

Comment: Not as complex as A'bunadh

I've read that this is going to be discontinued except in Uk and France. Very sad.

An interesting malt with a nice finish.

      Fruity. Apples, cherries and malt.
    • Finish

Interestingly, Aberlours tends to be more characterfull at younger ages. The older ones are very good, but the younger have more of a 'kick' to them.
Very rewarding whisky, available, and for a good price.
Biggest selling single malt in France. And you can not easily argue with the French about taste and 'The Good Live'. So: buy and enjoy.

The lighter version of the Macallan 12-year old... concerning the nose!
    • Nose
Clear Sherry, Some fruits like oranges, spicy
    • Taste
Bit oak... really a bit. Sherry again
    • Finish
      Quite short, bit oak remains!

  24. D3US scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

A good standard bottling, and apart from a slightly watery finish, a very enjoyable whisky.
    • Nose
Buttery. Nutty, like almonds. Nice oak, orange fruit. Berries as well. Slightly spicy, with honey sweetness. Cinnamon.
    • Taste
Fresh feel. Soft and sweet. Sherry, fruit (dark fruits this time) and honey. Light spices, subtle and mild.
    • Finish
Slightly bitter now, nutmeg and oily. Ripe fruits (berries, plums) and not very long.

  26. pilgrim77 scored this whisky 78 points Expert Senior

A rather straightforward Speyside malt, but the 12yo double cask bottling is a considerable improvement.

  27. The Macallan scored this whisky 66 points Connoisseur

De finish is a short stay, but it's a very enjoyble whisky.
    • Nose
Pungy, gentle maltiness, flowery and raisins.
    • Taste
Soft, light, on the back slightly peppery and some dried fruit.
    • Finish
Full, peppery, warm and yet soft, some sweetness.

  28. HunterRomario scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
      chocolate, sherry
    • Taste
from the beginning, the soft embrace changes roughness

  29. drkrylov scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

A classic Speyside single malt, matured in a combination of oak ex-bourbon casks and ex-sherry butts for a minimum of 10 years.

  30. Jonkers scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

This whisky is not well balanced. The taste is much better than the nose, but after all I guess the finish is the best part of this whisky.
    • Nose
Sherry, fresh sweetness. A hint of mint and caramel. So far so (rather) good, but on the other hand: a bit airless and stale. What a pity...
    • Taste
From the beginning: sweet. Honey, vanilla and sherry. A hint of liquorice.
    • Finish
Light peppery and bitter, even a bit metallic, but sweetness rules. Medium long.

  31. mmaclean scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

"Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, this 10 year

old from Aberlour remains a perennial favourite, typical of the modern

Speyside style and thoroughly approachable. Such is its popularity that

this bottling has been exported to over fifty countries."

  33. drkrylov scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
      Malty, spicy, mint toffee.
    • Taste
Distinctively clinging mouth feel, with long-lasting flavour development. Both sweetness and spicy, peppery dryness in its malt character. Nutmeg and berry fruit.
    • Finish
      Lingering, smooth, aromatic, clean.

    • Nose
sherry of course. Honey? Malt and some creaminess. Spicy. ... Almond paste
    • Taste
rather like the nose but spicier. Sweet and sherried with more of that almond paste. Smooth.
    • Finish
medium length with the spices on the finish

  35. Willie JJ scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

Great value, but I wish it was a bit stronger
    • Nose
      Oranges, maybe a little grist
    • Taste
      Spicy wood influence, ginger
    • Finish
      Spicy and drying
