  1. St. Pauli Plus scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

This is an old school and no-nonsense whisky, not as engineered as you find them these days. It's quite ballsy without water, with water it behaves better...
    • Nose
      90 90
This is an oldfashioned great sherry nose with plenty of gunpowder, black tea, minerals, leaves and earth. Next to this, there is ginger bread, orange zest, and plenty of (dry) wood. Great stuff, much better than many of the engineered ex-sherry noses that are dumped on the market nowadays.
    • Taste
      89 89
Bone dry and earthy, with lots of power for a 33 yo whisky. The gunpowder and ginger powder dominate, followed by salted peanuts, orange zest, cappucino and wood. WIth water, it gets friendlier, with more room for dried fruit (sultana, date).
    • Finish
      87 87
Long and a tad hot (spicy). Nutmeg, pepper, ginger, and clove dominate... Then there is dried fruit, orange zest, wood, cappucino and peanut.
