easy whisky. bit flat but nice.

  2. markjedi1 scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Quite good and dangerously quaffable, but does not come close to the release from twenty years before.
    • Nose
The nose is quite layered and somewhat ‘heavy’, if you know what I mean. Loads of sweet honey, vanilla, sherry influence, sweet spices, a little bourbonny at the same time with even a hint of peat, in the back. This is quite old school, which I am fond of.
    • Taste
It is creamy on the palate. Mouth coating. It all starts on oranges, apricots, barley sugars, plums and other dark fruits, while it slowly evolves towards a more dry profile with a salty edge. One might even call this one complex.
    • Finish
The finish, however, is rather short and ends with a slight bitter note.

    • Taste

What a difference with other JW's. This is definitely no mix whisky. With water the nose loses, but the taste gains. Recommended.
    • Nose
W/o water: Heavy. Full. Sweet of grains. Oaky spiciness. Tends to a Bourbon profile.

w/ water: Less heavy. But fuller. Spicy sweetness.
    • Taste
w/o water: Complex arrival. Development to grain-sugar. Bitter oak wood sap.

w/ water: beautiful sweet arrival. Apricot. Sweet oranges. Development towards licorice, briny bitterness.
    • Finish
w/o water: medium long bitter sweet finish.

w/ water: Spicy warm and long finish.

N- Apparent wood, ginger and dusting peppery spices, some chili powder? Honey, scent of floral, leafy. Pleasant.

P- Creamy, sweet corn with toasted notes. Orange and raisin.

F- Medium, weighty despite low strength, warming and peppery coating. Easy going and well blend.

  9. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Typical easy-to-drink whiskey, round, tasty, but not too shallow or immature, makes good as a gift, therefore, for 35 € OK.
    • Nose
slightly sweet, slightly dry, honey, cereals, a hint of smoke
    • Taste
sweeter and fuller than the nose, honey, caramel, some chocolate, a hint of sherry and a slight smoky bitterness / oak
    • Finish
      medium long, dry, slightly spicy
