Whisky Reviews for Chivas Regal 12-year-old

8 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 73.76 points

  1. Thermidor scored this whisky 73 points Expert Senior

It's not much but at least it's not Red Label (60 pts.)
    • Nose
      Color: Muddy e150 gold.

It feels a bit coastal, like a very quiet and perhaps not entirely great Old Pulteney. Salt and honey. Feels much older than Johnnie Walker Red Label in the glass next to it. Cream taffy and vaseline.
    • Taste
A cardboard box filled with apples. Occasional tinned pineapple and some savouriness. Not too sweet. The body kind of kills it though, with this safely played great plains-level flatness.
    • Finish
Apart from a faint linger on the tongue it fades away upon swallowing.

  2. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 76 points Connoisseur

The bottle has been open in my closet for almost 10 years now. You can already drink it in between, but you do not have to.
    • Nose
Malty and fruity, fruit, sweet, overripe apple and pear, vanilla, some oak, which brings light spiciness, nuts
    • Taste
watery mouthfeel, superficially sweet, again the overripe fruits, some oak, also a slightly more tart note, slightly alcoholic, vanilla
    • Finish
very dry at the back, the whole mouth is slightly contracted, slightly spicy, on the palate still sour fruit

  3. Sonett scored this whisky 71 points Connoisseur

A good whisky without personality. A very average dram
    • Nose
      Bread, hay, herbs, honey, vanilla
    • Taste
Sweet honey and breadfruit entrance followed by increasing but mild spices
    • Finish
Short to medium long, going for mild spices to a drying light bitterness and a very vague peat

  4. Sandman scored this whisky 73 points Expert Senior

    My notes from 26-12-2013
    • Nose
      Musli, fruit and honey
    • Taste
Fruit, honey, vanilla, nuts and a dash of pepper
    • Finish
Medium, honey, fruit and a little smoke

It's a bit tricky for me to rate this because I've actually only had it mixed with Drambuie to make a rusty nail ... but I did nose it first and it seemed all right, so I assume it's on par with Black Label in terms of an easy-drinking blend.

  7. HunterRomario scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

A cool blend that attracted me more than Johnnie Walker Black.
    • Nose
Pleasantly sweet, honey, fruity. Malt, vanilla, wood. (82 b)
    • Taste
Smooth, malted, slightly sweet. Dozuk more cocoa than woody. (80 b)
