After a few tastings of one of my favorite whiskys - both older bottlings and newer bottlings - one thing is certain: the Duncan Taylor from the 80s are among my top favourites.

Steam boiler and soapiness is something very special. Can't remember ever identifying this with other whiskys (which doesn't mean there isn't anything else).

Sparkling maritime (saltiness and sea spray)
    Violet scent/perfume (soapiness)
No alcoholic stinging in the nose.
Fresh/fruity (citrus, red currants - hence the slight sourness)
Woody notes mostly in the background.
    Very quickly nice and oily/viscous.

Conclusion: An absolute sniffer but just as excellent in the mouth. Enjoy without diluting in very small portions. With water it opens wider and more voluminous.

Too bad, the market is empty and the prices are hopelessly overpriced (I can understand but not accept it).
It's a shame, because the collectors only let the bottles rot in the display case (lol).
