Whisky Reviews for Bowmore 1998 McG

2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.25 points

  1. HunterRomario scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Only 8-year-old whisky, finishes spent in wine barrels by Gabriel Meffre Rhone Valley. Given the age and older competitors that I overshadowed, I rounded the points to the top. Tasting at Króčovo birthday party, I had a megapanak thanks to his generosity.
    • Nose
Earthy dull, a little iodine, the apparent influence of red wine. Aroma is rather simple, but cool. (83 b)
    • Taste
First tasting ... hmmm, good enough for eight-year-old whisky. Nicely coordinated Islay with red wine. Floury, earthy iodine, clay, with a sour trace of red fruit. (86 b)

  2. Sir Provenance did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

Original Tasting Notes:Behind the initial pepper, ashy and smoked character - detect a distinct red fruit sweetness - discernable also from the colour. The body is oily and mouth coating, carring a palate which largely replicates the nose with the same Islay quality mingling with the red jam flavours. The finish is dry, then sweet, then dry againwith a back drop of damp bonfire and wet charcoal. ( F )
