- Not bad but batch 1 was much better
- Aroma: Sharp, varnish, clear barrel scent, with only a light sherry breeze. Wood, some raisins and creamy chocolate. In straight line with CS4, the four are clearly better, much more sherry. (84 b)
Taste: The woody creamy, varnish, sherry is in the taste to know a little more than in the smell, there it was weak. Rozinky Sweetness. (85 b)
Summary: Tested in a straight two-wheel comparison test with CS4. I have a bottle open, I have a big sample from a friend, but I have a bottle and I have to leave it for a couple of years and then see if the age is as positive as the one. There I was 88 for the premiere, but 93 and maybe three and a half years later. Perhaps somebody will be surprised that the whisky matures only in the barrel and in the bottle no longer, but it is a controversy. Even though it does not mature, it will surely "get old", of course something is happening to it in the bottle. But I turned it off and it would be another, longer, chatting. For me, five of the GD CS (1-5) tasted the CS3 clearly the weakest.
- Compared to their age-stated core range bottlings, this one has a much clearer distillate character.
Sweet, sticky sherry immediately hits the nose. Sultanas, cinnamon, baked apple, rum-soaked raisins, toffee, chocolate, burnt sugar, mint, lemon, orange peel, dried apricot, vanilla. A little bourbony on the nose, although very welcoming. For a cask strength whisky, the nose is very mild in terms of alcohol burn.
Full, oily mouthfeel with a slight alcohol burn. Oak, PX sherry, espresso, butterscotch, salted caramel, milk chocolate, walnut, nutmeg, earthy, orange, anise, jaffa cake and spearmint. It's a little in your face, but in a pleasant way. I get the idea that the PX casks are the main contributor to this whisky, making this whisky lean more to the sweet side and less 'heavy' on the palate. You can tell the difference if you've had Oloroso matured Glendronachs.
Very long and drying, dried fruit notes are prominent.

Tobacco but also the sweetness of sherry. Glue and leather. Complex but fresh.
Again the tobacco and leather, with some sherry notes coming through. Like walking into an antique store. Lovely.
Quite long and warm with spicy pepper notes.
- nice affordable glendronach.
Clearly thick sherry influences as expected. Chocolate, hazelnuts, raisins and sultanas. Also some oranges and tangerines. overall quite pleasant
it starts with a small black peper bite, then comes the raisins and oranges, followed by sweet silky milkchocolates with almonds. it has a bit of a small bitter bite on the tongue which damages a bit the overall sweet full soft experience

- Pleasant and affordable, complex Glendronach, which is not just about the sherry.
Sherry and malt. Apple, black cherry and orange peel. Vanilla, caramel and spicy oak.
Sweet. Sherry and malt. Plum, raisin, orange, cocoa and ginger.
Long, spicy, sherried.

Freshly ground peppercorns, oranges, raisins and hints of tobacco leaves behind. Fir honey, dark wood, some wood varnish.
Orange sweets, honey. Hazelnuts, some nougat. Slightly tingling and spicy.
- At two thirds of the bottle after a few weeks: In the nose Candied orange citrus Coco's prunes spritzbreakfast espresso amphora tobacco. Tastes creamy sherry orange plum petertjes again in the middle, some laurel and lemon peel, later dried peppers and a light sweetie stays nice and long. In the first weeks a little more subdued something more leather and less sweet also the alcohol was more present and in the aftertaste some floral and light notes of mint. In the weeks later I could not taste it anymore, but I had more accents of ripe fruits and influence of the px sherry, in the beginning the lake tended to olorosso.
