An incredibly intense and complex Karuizawa! Despite its relatively young age with only 14 years under my belt, this bottling convinced me in all respects. Incredibly intense and creamy, fruity and sweet, spicy with herbs, wonderful and velvety fruit aroma, just fantastic and much too delicious!

    • Nose
Light copper shimmers with a silky red cast in the glass, on the glass wall of my Premium Snifter long drops pull back into the glass. Dark, dried fruit aromas stand out intensely and voluminously, creamy roasted aromas and slightly roasted hazelnuts exude their incredibly intense aroma. Hints of dried grapes and berries have a minimal musty and moldy finish, caramelized sugar mixes with plums and morello cherries. After a while the alcohol presents itself pleasantly in its full strength of 60% and shows powerfully what it can do. Chocolate and velvety peach appear, the creamy nut aroma increases noticeably and stimulates the flow of saliva. Despite the high alcohol content, the nose is incredibly creamy and velvety. Warm espresso is minimal when the nosing is repeated, the peach aroma increases, nectarines and mandarins are added.
    • Taste
The first sip is powerful on the tongue, dark wood and fruit aromas mix with sweet caramel and sun-ripened raisins. Suddenly the flow of saliva sets in, plump warmth floods the palate and warms the throat. Due to the high alcohol content, I add minimal water. After adding water, the Karu sloshes through the jaws with the next sip of creamy and velvety, espresso and dark chocolate are just as evident as the dark and sweet sherry aroma. The mouthfeel becomes minimally bitter and bitter, a nut mix combines with sulphurized raisins and dates, spicy wood tones are created. Another sip flows sweetly and fruity on the tongue and warms the palate. At the moment, his taste reminds me a little of cough syrup or herbal infusion ... cozy warmth runs through the throat and warms the stomach, immature walnuts stick to the tongue, spicy and slightly tart wooden elements flatter the tongue.
    • Finish
Incredible and voluminous warmth still lingers in the entire mouth area, herbs and spicy wood tones mix with caramel and a velvety mixture of peaches, oranges, raisins and sour cherries. In the aftertaste there is also an intense nut aroma. Roasted peanuts stick silky with walnuts and hazelnuts on the inside of the cheek, sweet caramel and toffee mix again with peach and sweet "dark sherry aroma" ;-) The mixture of herbs slowly fades, the nuts become less, the spicy wood withdraws What remains is a creamy and oily film in the entire mouth area.
