  1. Nosingbär scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Not an easy whisky for me, unfortunately I only have 2cl. After a warm-up phase it becomes an average, reserved refill sherry malt for me. It is certainly something special to try a whisky from another time, but if I ignore this fact, it is worth 84 points purely for taste.
    • Nose
It has that sparkling herbal + orange lemonade note that I often imagine in whiskies from that era. For me, there is also a damp cellar. Grassy sweetness, plant juice. At first I can't detect the savoury taste that is said to be associated with Mortlach. Over time, malty sweetness comes along, sugared cornflakes (Frosties). Golden Delicious. It becomes more expressive. Now a slightly savoury note comes through, I think. Baked bananas with honey.
    • Taste
sweet, fruitier than in the aroma, also slightly salty. Salted pecans. Even fruitier on the second sip, the tingling in the background. Very light tannins, vanilla, honey. Third sip even more appealing. Starts off sweet but develops dry. Sweet apple juice with hints of hazelnuts and freshly ground wheat. Lemon peel and definitely tonic water.
    • Finish
The finish is again sparkling orange lemonade, fizzy tablets, hints of typical sherry aromas, but very far away. Fructose. Dextrose. The longer you chew on it, the drier it becomes. It even goes in the direction of juniper berries in places. Weird.
