Whisky Reviews for Girvan 1988 ANHA

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 81.64 points

  1. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Coconut, vanilla, sweet, light. A grain, as if from a picture book. Unfortunately, a little fleeting and not as difficult as the older ones. Still, good whiskey.

Conclusion: 88/100 points - "sweet sweet summer dram". The Girvan of Tom (Anam na-h Alba) offers loads of sweet flavors, some fruit and nut, packed in a dangerously tasty whiskey. Mild, uncomplicated and easy to drink. Very tasty grain for a fair price. Link to the tasting on my blog: http://www.tasting-notes.de/Archive/438
    • Nose
Lots of vanilla, here you can feel the bourbon barrel. To add some sweet tropical fruit with a very slightly alcoholic touch. Overall rather unobtrusive and discreet. with water more fruit and much more sweetness.
    • Taste
Starts slightly alcoholic and very sweet. The ripe mangos are shown to good effect. In the background you can still find vanilla and candied nuts. Milder, more pleasing, oily and sweeter with water.
    • Finish
Medium long sweet finish, with vanilla, some wood and slightly peppery towards the end. At the end there is a bitter note on the back of the palate. With water more sweetness and less bitterness.

The nose was fine, if not good, but in the mouth it was not a pleasure for me without water! Water definitely helps!
    • Nose
A lot of vanilla and caramel, something acidic behind, is more in the floral direction, but very restrained, a little freshly cut grass, honey, and yet some fruit, tropical, peach passion fruit, all superimposed with the very dominant vanilla note, then too Oak, which has something slightly smoky about it. a touch of cocoa in the direction of Lumumba, this impression is clear over time, an iodine spice can also be seen, the initial Florale is now gone
    • Taste
starts surprisingly alcoholic for his 25 years and also spicy, which was so unpredictable in the nose, creamy, dry, slightly nutty and still spicy, the fruit is hinted, very sour, with water it is more pleasant, the fruit is better and it is less spicy and alcoholic
    • Finish
also behind the back a noticeable alcohol, bitter, the mouth becomes numb, even here with water much more pleasant
