    • Nose
slightly sherried with a few dried fruits, lots of plums and apricots. smells pretty japanese, i find.
a few nuts in the background and some vanilla.
    • Taste
spicier than on the nose, loud vanilla, medium sweet, creamy mouthfeel. the plums and apricots are still there but not so much in front.
    • Finish
      medium, harmonious, fresh.

This is indeed a signum of great balance.

    (Rating interval 84-88)
    • Nose
Subtle spices, fruity with banana, mango and fresh peaches. Soft cinnamon and wood spice, apricots and some fresh tobacco after a while.
    • Taste
Spicy arrival with cinnamon and aniseed, complex tropical fruit with just a hint of smoke. Sweet grain and some flint or mineral in the background as well.
    • Finish
Mixed spices, brown sugar, spicy vanilla and oak with white pepper remaining for some time.

  7. Bishlouk scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    Very nice and easily drinkable.
    • Nose
Very cool. Pear, morning flowers, rhubarb, ginger, sweet spices, vanilla.
    • Taste
Vanilla, a lot of pear, a little caramel.
    • Finish
A little spice in the throat, a hint of woody bitterness on the tongue.

  8. Banzai scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

The taste is a bit too sweet for me, but as an aperitif this is best.
    • Nose
Reasonably mild nose experience that is quite pleasant. I have white fruit (apples and pears), butter, crème brulee, vanilla and some banana.
    • Taste
Poached mouth perception in which the sweet clearly prevails. I taste that vanilla again, honey, peach in syrup and baked apples with sugar. The sherry is hardly present.
    • Finish
The aftertaste is reasonably short with notes of liquorice and again that vanilla. Slightly drying.

  9. KayMeertens scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Blind tasting of a sample: HWF VBT-5. My associations were Glenmorangie, Glenlivet and Glengoyne. Very nice for a blend.
    • Nose
Caramel, banana, vanilla, apple and initially some oaky spice. Whiffs of citrus, orange, honey, cookies and grass. Then creamier and fudgier, buttery even. After a few minutes it comes to a creamy peak, after which the fruity notes return.
    • Taste
Creamy with a lot of caramel and vanilla. Furthermore almond, honey, a little orange and a floral touch, plus a whiff of smoke.
    • Finish
A lot of caramel and vanilla, a little apple and a slight nuttiness.
