  1. Greenkeeper scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

A very young but convincing dram. Much better than the standard 46% abv expression and also better than its predecessor from the year before.
    • Nose
That "real cracker" (as introduced on the label) appears to be quite delicate, zesty and sweet. At first. Spontaneously identified as a Caol Ila. After that, the rest comes out of the bottle. Yeeehaaa ! Close your eyes and you will hear the seagull's cries, smell the salty foam of waves splashing over the side plate of the trawler you're standing on and you might even notice the dirty, sooty smokestack working and the crane with that net full of herrings hanging from it.
    • Taste
The zesty-fruity sweetness carries it all through. Mild lemons, big sweet juicy grapefruits wrapped up in thick layers of greasy, dirty and oily smoke. Hardly any hints of wood, certainly a very young expression. Perhaps one with just some drops of old refill stuff in it, that you want to notice - but you only make believe. Alcohol is wonderfully integrated. I recommend to savour this one neat. If Adding some water, the dram stays fine, but also it drowns quite fast, so be careful with the H2O. You'll like the dram better and better, the more you'll  accustom yourself to that "oily, salty dirtyness".
    • Finish
      Middle duration.
