Good whisky for (by today's standards) great price! Almost one, lost Gem '.

A very light, fresh nose, which one does not notice the 58% vol cask strength. Floral, with a touch of oak bitterness and orange peel. Not overstraining but not really complex, more on the citrus side, as on the honey / vanilla side. But you have the vanilla tones after 5 minutes, but very subtle.

First, I have a decent shot of caramel, then a very sweet replenishment but with neat Karacho clears the mouth. I just took an undiluted sip and yes; he can swallow without collateral damage. Would he do 2-3 drops well? I guess so, but not anymore. Back to topic - so the malt does not taste bad. (another sip) ... in the mouth he actually unfolds a new profile. He actually goes into the caramel and vanilla corner. Burnt nuts, cinnamon, the whole in conjunction with a pleasant accompanying oak cargo. Hmmm ... I have to say, I would not have expected that - it is a storekeeper from 2015, which I managed to get hold of for just under € 70 in 2019.

Pretty long, spicy, warming, blood orange, again (or still) caramel, brown sugar, some pepper. He actually seems to me bottled up at a good time. The oak barrel is always present, but does not suppress the malt in its basic profile.

Lesson learned: Whiskybase points are just a reference! Many malts fall and rise in price, depending on the rating of the great gurus (Serge V., Tomtrinkt.de, Jim Murray ...). It is often forgotten that tastes are different. I like the malt. Not the next big thing, but definitely worth trying!
