  1. grinface Plus scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

For me, this is a good example of "just over the tipping point". You really notice how the dominance of the cask pushed back the whisky and 40 years was just too much. Nevertheless, it is still very high quality. But if you have seen the light, points are missing here because the intensity is too high in the wrong place.

    • Nose
      91 91
Salted almonds and lemon slices in a dehydrator. Then comes cherry schnapps and marzipan. After that it gets a little quieter. You can take a deep breath and not be overwhelmed by the aromas. This is done with some orange and wax. A short time later it turns up again. This time with dried herbs and spices. Then there is a break again and if you pan again, you get red berries and chocolate in a muesli.
    • Taste
      90 90
Salty and nutty again. Then with lots of citric acid. Sour coffee too. This also develops very intense bitter substances. You have to admit a lot of saliva to counter that. Then various fruits come through again and that's a lot of fun.
    • Finish
      90 90
The bitter substances are also very present in the finish. There is a mix of coffee, dark chocolate, teriyaki sauce and amaro. If you swallow quickly, it also opens in the direction of fruit. With a tendency towards peel.
