    Brora 18y 1981/1999, 50%, DL OMC, 335 bottles - Highland - 92/100
This is Clynelish with a blissful Brora touch. The nose has the 'waxyness' of Clynelish with the tasty, subtle peat of Brora. Furthermore, it is fresh and sweet. Honey, vanilla, flowers, fruit (peach, apricot, little citrus), wax and soft peat. Something of wet hay too. This is wonderful! Powerful and fresh taste with grains, vanilla and salt. Then the peat comes to the surface. At first subtle and then more and more rough. Nice! Blissful, long finish with recurring smoke. Apparently Brora in his last years (early 80's - distillery closed in 1983) still made some peaty batches. This is clearly different from the Brora's of the 70's, but can stand without blushing. http://onversneden.com/2008/11/23/enkele-peaty-douglas-laings/
