Whisky Reviews for Lagavulin 16-year-old

- All pipe tobacco and iodine, licorice and a bit of mint or caraway, some tarry dark brown sugar but a little vanilla on the nose in amongst the pipe smoke. Long sweet and Smokey finish, a beautiful whisky. Hard to beat in general, and never will be bested if you are on a budget! Almost not worth hoping there is something out there better.
- A nice Lagavulin with a lot of the typical nose and taste. However taste is somewhat vague, almost weak, in comparison with other Lagavulins I tasted
- I like the profile but for me the nose and finish are okay, but it lacks power in the taste... I've tasted it alongside a Classic of Islay (no doubt it is Lagavulin) and it just destroyed the Lagavulin 16. For me the choice is easy...
- wonderfull, tickles the tongue, wel balanced. A superb whisky for it's price at least
clearly iodine (at first at least, diminishes rapidly), spicy, bit of fruit, slightly sweet (candy?), a whiff of ammonia
powerfull but smooth, liquorice (candy), ammonium chloride
liquorice, little iodine, spicy, lasting taste.
