    The taste has something dark
in the throat a small explosion
very long finish with many flavors
    • Nose
Peat, smoke, dark fruits, pitted cherries, caramel, sea mud, mildew, coffee, burned gum
    • Taste
Smoke, caramel milk, burned, tingling, salt, ripe sweet cherry, dry plum, smoke in the back of the throat
    • Finish
long, pleasantly strong, dry on the palate, burnt rubber and caramel

I was able to take my bottle with me on location on Ardbog Day 2013.
It is therefore something very special for me ...
The taste immediately reminds me of the distillery, the sea, the salty spray that blows from the sea. Also kelp, medical smoke, very much even. But also caramel, wood (not unpleasant) and bright fruits, also a little flowery it seems to me in the finish. A very round, well drinkable Ardbeg!

    an Ardbeg !!
an almost old now, less trafficked than the last singular productions:
intense nose on peat, smoke and wet side of wet but dried grass!
moist wood, spices raised, lemon that arrives with a little cooked apples, the singular taste of the "hospital corridor".
the mouth gives a little more on citrus fruit, but not much in fact, on vanilla still in return and on the wet peat and feast, there is salt, seaweed discovered in a small harbor with spray!
final on the same scents! long enough because of the thickness of the peat injected into the bottle!

Amazingly sweet, spicy, exotic fruits, combined with vanilla, wood, slightly vinous sherry and of course peat, which holds back amazingly. In the finish he is there for a long time. Great whisky.

    I got no power here!

I really liked this release. Harsh and at the same time delicate whisky.
    • Nose
Spicy, perfumery. The first nose is smoked fish, damp forest, many marine shades (mooring rope, salt, iodine). Deeper - wine nuances, prunes, candied jam and caramel. Very deep - a belly and notes of old skin.
    • Taste
Tart. Sticky prunes, dried apricots, honey syrup mixed with sea salty notes, with iodine and smoked nuances, with spicy spices and tannins.
    • Finish
Long enough, very fumigated. Initially, meat burned at the stake, black bread soaked in sunflower oil and a lot of hot spices. Then - honey, chocolate chips, a hint of citrus and vanilla. At the end, some oak and again spicy spices.

Coal, ash, burning plastic, paint, rubber, a new leather product, bandage, a bonfire, raw wood, black pepper, hot chocolate, almonds, butter dough, sweet corn. Red currant aftertaste!

N: I'd have believed it if I’d been told this was sherried Springbank, such is the softness of the peated smokiness and its likeness to a Springbank 15yo I’m currently enjoying.
T: Displays proudly its manzanilla sherry oak plumage, the cask doing most of the work without overly exerting.
F: The smoke comes at the end.
C: I loved this the first time I tried it in 2014, very possibly from the same bottle. Five years on I can better see it for what it is - possibly one of best manzanilla cask whisky I've tried and a really successful job. Same score as last time.

Excellent Ardbeg. If you like the Ugeadail like I do, you will also like this one. The dark fruits are very present on the palate and the finish is very meaty. A complex and satisfying dram that needs no water to shine! Is it worth the price of 3 bottles of Ugeadail? Not sure, but it’s definitely good.
