  1. ASWhisky scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    a great sniffing nose
an exciting mouth if you take your time
Finish medium to long quite pleasant
    I still have it

    no: I'm just drinking a Laphroaig ...
    he wants some attention
but he is not limp at all
the 40% are surprisingly good over
    an always welcomed dram
    • Nose
it is medical iodine with a flash back to the empty op
but immediately returns to the sea with salt, silt and tar
Harbor water, damp spicy wood, tea, orange
      Phenol becomes dominant
    • Taste
Stingy phenol when starting, it will be soft and dry with dark chocolate, a bit berry
      > on the palate dry smoke and full spicy, with a subtle malt sweetness
something like radish leaves on the palate
    • Finish
medium long, warm with dry smoke, slightly bitter oak notes, dark cocoa, a hint of malty sweetness

A nice drinkable Laphroaig with good value for money. 81/82.
    • Nose
      82 82
Spicy oak, sweet peat, seaweed and algae, salted caramel and orange peel.
    • Taste
      81 81
Slightly thin. Cocoa, forest fruits, smoke and spices, malt.
    • Finish
      81 81
Not too long, smoky, spicy, slightly oaky.

Great nose with peat, vanilla and gingerbread (Zomt, cloves, cardamom). Otherwise rather soft and tame, vanilla, peat and spices. But still very tasty.

Conclusion: Blindtasting, consistently weak Laphroaig. Laphroaig and I will definitely not be friends anymore
    • Nose
Smoke, medicine, some light fruits, alcohol, old carton, relatively sharp in the nose
    • Taste
Medicine & smoke stick to it, slightly spicy but too watery, weak overall impression
    • Finish
Short, smoke and medicine, light oak barrel

Worst Laphroaig Whisky I've ever drank. Absolute waste, moreover, at an outrageous price - more expensive than the Quarter Cask!

Nose: peat typical of Laphroaig. Behind the fishing, exotic fruits. And always this saline side with the cereals afterwards. On the palate, it recalls the Quarter Cask, softer, more delicate, but with a more limited aromatic spectrum. Somewhat watery and a little lack of presence (for a Laphroaig at least) Final long, salty, but not intense in aromas. Enthusiasm 3/5

Vanilla and strongly woody spicy Laphroaig average expression that does not catch the other products - the question of whether the substitution in the form of Four Oak changes something ..

[November, 2014]  I had this dram during a community tasting near Bonn.  I bought this bottle for 45 Euro in May, 2014.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 75.  My notes state an unpleasant, unbalanced and heavy woodiness on top of a rather immature spirit.
