  1. Cask1988 did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

This Tomatin gives a very intense experience for what normally is a rather gentle highland whisky. It’s a rather unusual rough Tomatin. Great fun to explore this side of the distillery!
    • Nose
This is a very full and heavy nose. Earthy, meaty, sweet and a wee salty. It is very well matured and it’s got that nice old musty blanket over it. The cask really did it’s part in a wonderful way. Apple sauce, sweet soy sauce, dirt, ripe plumbs and Italian herbs. The nose is very balanced, complex and well layered. It greatly shows ‘the other side’ of Tomatin.
    • Taste
The nose continues in the taste. Initially it starts rather smooth but soon it turns out to be very intense and heavy again. Extraordinary ‘manly’. This one makes quite an entrance. More fruitiness is present in the taste but also the rough side of Tomatin. All the different flavors are in harmony with one another. After a while a quite strong peppery feeling completes the palate.
    • Finish
Long. This finish starts very silky. Other then The nose and taste, the finish is very gentle and refined. A whiff of toasted oak, several wood-like spice and baked apple. It is a very active finish that continues to develop.
