  1. Lorion scored this whisky 95 points Connoisseur

He completes his heavenly brother from the year 1984 in the direction of the oak freight. (Almost) equal, the two 84s belong to my personal top. 94 points!
    • Nose
      96 96
First, a heavy sherry aroma comes into the nose, quite kräutrig and tart. I left the glass after a short while and when I came back (15 minutes later) the blow hit me. Wrong in the glass? Where is the tart? Sweet and (whale) nutty it urges into the nose! If you get used to it, herbs and then also plum and cherry come back. The sweet walnut note remains, but is then not so dominant that it sweeps everything away. Oak comes along, finally! That was not enough. The whisky is slowly oriented towards a "more typical" whisky. The sherry-oak combination reminds me of many Glendronach bottlings that always manage this combination well. Nevertheless, the remaining sweet nuttiness warns against really wanting to find comparability here - it stays different, it stays ..... Couvreur. Modrige, old-looking aromas, vinous, kräutrig-sweet gummy bears, cherry juice, oak again. You can search and search and you will find and find in this whisky. I find it very interesting that he combines the oldschool character that is often to be found at Couvreur with today's more typical oak sherry whiskys. I like it very much! Over time, the impressions come closer and form an overall impression that has something of rubber or polish after a search in my smell memory. By no means negative. I love that on some sherry walls. After even more time (hours) sweetness dominates again with some herbs.
    • Taste
      95 95
Sweet and full, after a short stay directly with oak, nutty, kräutrig, cheesy, musty - it comes with a flood of flavors, which one knows from the nose! I hardly find dryness, but the rest is here! And something from there! Pleasantly bitter and leathery, it remains in the mouth. Incredibly sweet in the overall picture, the oak makes itself noticeable, but displaces nothing. To the two pioneering impressions appear every second other things, which are then replaced by new impressions. The second sip is similar. The first seconds incredibly sweet, then comes seasoning and then leather and Modriges, which is then particularly strong after swallowing. There is no sense of alcohol in any way.
    • Finish
      94 94
The throat is not the scene to look for a finish - the mouth is! The taste stays in the mouth and does not go away!
